My second foray into scotch, the first being the Glenlivet 12yr. Very approachable and smooth. Nose is sweet and has some vanilla and toffee notes. Taste is more vanilla, as well as sherry. Finish is smooth and can taste hints of oak as well as brown sugar.
All scotch is good scotch (unless it's terrible). The Mac 12 is sweet, smooth, tannic, and has just that right amount of sherry influence to make this a crowd pleaser. Slight smoke, and a swift oaky finish. I do enjoy some more robust whiskey over this, but if readily available or given as a gift, this is great stuff. I wouldn't pay anything over 60$ for this.
