The Real McCoy 5 Year Rum

Exactly what a rum should taste like. Not going to blow your socks off. Not crazy, just very well done.

A deep copper color with aromas of banana, banana, banana, banana, banana, banana, banana, banana, banana, banana, banana, bananana! In all seriousness, this tropical elixir sports ebullient aromas of overripe Cavendish bananas, red bananas, Gros Michel bananas, and plenty of artificial banana candy flavoring. On the palate there's rich brown sugar, vanilla, grassy plantain, and subtle warming Christmas spice. The finish is short and echoes banana and sugar. A very easy drinking rum, but certainly not an interesting one.

Decent rum. Has a palate of butterscotch and caramel, and it runs thick with those flavors. I enjoyed it neat and then on the rocks. I'm sure it would make a good mixing rum. I went out of my way to get this because their 3 year old white rum was one of the first white rums that I actually liked. This is alright too. I'll probably check out the 12 year in the future.

It smells sweet with caramel and a bit of squash and meat umami. It doesn't have a super deep nose though. The palate is caramel that's a tad light. It tastes like a standard rum, with a bit too much sweetness, but also some added richness. There's some alcohol flavor too.
