Reviewed September 8, 2024Came across this at a local liquor store with a great variety. Never seen before and got a sample. Mint nose and hint of floral. Palate oily and floral. After taste is like a bold red wine it is incredibly dry. Tried neat then added a cube. Opened up better but very surprising pour. Dont think I would pay $75 a bottle for but nice sample. -

Reviewed August 13, 2023 (edited March 28, 2024)Liquor City Uncorked pick, "Gallenstein's Selection #2" Barreled on 12-13-2014 Bottled on 10-01-2021 Age - 6 years, 9 months, 18 days 58.5% abv; 117 proof Open 10 weeks Nose - Sweet clove and dill, caramel, cinnamon, allspice, rich oak, tobacco, pine needles, and medium ethanol. Palate - Oily rye spices, heavy clove, black pepper, gingerbread, and leather. Finish is long with hot oak, dry rye spices, black pepper, hint of cardamon, brown sugar, and medium ethanol. The Senator is excellent, but not the best value for an MGP rye. It is one of the older barrel proof ryes you can buy under $100 at nearly 7 years, so that is definitely a perk. Personally I think you will get a similar quality MGP rye with 5-6 year old Old Scout picks for $20 less.74.99 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed November 12, 2022It’s a really stinkin good aged BP MGP rye. If you know the palette you’ll like it. Thick velvety spicy and herbaceous. Really nice, incredible packing. Beats out Eagle Rare as my favorite bottle 🇺🇸 (for presentation If the wording wasn’t obvious enough) -

Reviewed March 29, 2022Neat. Sample from HKW. Not sure which release but it was labeled as 117 pf. Wow! This is really good. Smooth drinking. Lots of barrel presence. Nose- very mild. A little ethanol heat but barely noticeable. Palate is sweet then dominated by spice, oak and some minty rye notes. Finish is medium without a lot of burn. Fantastic rye. I’ll be picking up a bottle for sure.
