Villa Lobos Extra Añejo Tequila
Tequila Extra Añejo
Villa Lobos // Los Altos, Jalisco , Mexico
Carlos Camarena, maker of Villa Lobos is considered one of the greatest living tequila makers. So when he takes on a new project, it is definitely something of which to take note! This extra añejo spends over 4 years in American oak barrels, plus another 6 months in steel tanks to mellow the spirits and help the flavors marry.
Originally a collaboration between Carlos and Dale Sklar intended to satiate the taste of England’s growing taste for agave spirits, this has since been released to the States. Additive free.

Tasting Notes
"Broad, rich, and creamy as you might expect from an extra añejo. The nose is loaded with vanillin, butterscotch, orange sorbet and toast. The palate is pretty nutty with a bit of butterscotch, plum, espresso and nutmeg to round things out. The texture is lush and seductive. While quite good there is a bitterness to this that some might find distracting. "
