Weller Antique 107 Bourbon

Sweet nose of banana bread. Initial sip is hot and spicy as expected, but the mid palate is where it shines. Raisins, cinnamon, vanilla and plenty of oak. Tingles the tongue, but is still a bit aggressive and lingers on exit. Plenty of heat, maybe a dash of water would help, but might mute the flavors. Oily and spicy- not something I would crave.

This is like Weller Special Reserve but with the volume turned up! The higher proof takes the cherry flavour and dials it up to more of a throat lozenge...a menthol feeling about it. And that trademark Weller yeasty note is backing it all up. If this were more available, it would always be on my shelf! A bargain price wheater that punches well above its weight class!

Sweat cream into long apple cinnamon spice and heat then heat subsides. Citrus vanilla into apple turnover. Very nice

Nose-Caramel, baking spice, leather. Very good nose. Palate-The flavor hits you immediately. I get lots of spice and pepper, and it’s a thick, chewy mouthful. The sweetness of the wheat comes on the backend. Lots of bold flavor for a 107 proof bourbon. Strong oak on the backend as well. Finish-Long and spicy, but the sweetness is still there. Dry finish. Conclusion-This pour is more complex than most bourbons that I’ve had that are three times the price and twice the age. Unbelievable pour.
