Westland Barley Series Pilsen Single Cask No. 2508
American Single Malt
Westland // Washington, USA
Westland Distillery has made a commitment to demonstrating the possibilities in barley, and has now released a series of whiskeys that testify to that. Each of the expressions showcases a different type of malted barley, and the resulting flavors which ensue.
The three whiskeys in the series were all matured in ex-bourbon casks from Heaven Hill for a period between 49 and 50 months, and were distilled with Belgian Brewer's yeast. Cask #2508 was made with Pilsen malt from Bestmalz, said to have a light, delicate malt flavor.

Tasting Notes
"The Pilsen is a pale gold in the glass, matching a pilsner beer in color. The nose is soft, with hay, zesty citrus peel, and background notes ranging from violets to melons. The palate offers caramel, vanilla, gingersnap cookies, black pepper, and more zesty citrus. A short, dry finish shows spicy, tannic oak, with more ginger and vanilla."
