Reviewed December 28, 2021Now that’s unusual. Strong aroma of cocoa powder with a hint of…ashes? Thick, creamy mouthfeel, with rich flavors of chocolate and oak on the palette. A bit of smoke, almost like bacon, appears on the long finish. Aroma of cedar wood in the empty glass. 3 cl sample from The Premium Whisky Advent Calendar (2020 Edition). -

Reviewed August 10, 2021Take that back. This is less harsh than hedonism perhaps due to its age. I like it better than hedonism. Don’t have any hedonism left to compare head to head -

Reviewed August 10, 2021Drank mezcal and tequila as reference liquors then tried this again. Confirming my first impression which was this is a vanilla bomb indistinguishable from compass box hedonism. Hedonism is available everywhere so why try to hunt this down? -

Reviewed April 10, 2021N: fingernail polish remover, medicinal, apples. Palate: drying, oak, tart apple, spicy ginger. Finish: wood, tart. Old and fairly complex. Not for me. -

Reviewed April 2, 2021I'm torn on this whisky. Part of me wants to pick up a bottle while I can at a reduced price, but this whisky is almost sickly sweet. I enjoy it, but I don't know if I would grow out of it. I definitely appreciate a 29 year single grain for its uniqueness and it has some very unique characteristics that I haven't picked up on in other whiskies. It's best without water. Nose: Buttered popcorn, corn flakes, sweet fruit, Palate: Oak, candy corn, sweet fruit, ginger, sweet up front and turn slightly bitter. Finish: Lingers, but not to strong. A bitter white pepper note shows up near the end Mouthfeel: This is where the age shows. It is creamy and viscous and like drinking a liquid candy corn. -

Reviewed April 2, 2021 (edited April 12, 2021)Vanilla pear and candied lemon on the nose gives way to more candied lemons, oranges and pears on the palate. Leaving it to warm up on the palate it gets a creamy mouth feel and flavors of cinnamon, cloves, and ginger. The finish has a punch. It hits hard with pepper and gingerbread. -

Reviewed February 18, 2021Nose: very sweet and somewhat fruity, peach maybe. Some vanilla and butterscotch. Taste: more sweet, tart, caramel and wood lingers. Its very enjoyable and smooth, never would’ve guessed its a 54% dram.
