WhistlePig Old World Cask Finish Rye 12 Year

Spicy sweet

Smooth, much less sweet than most ryes. As the finish suggests, this is as woody as a twink after five white claws. My preference is for a sweeter rye, but the heart wants what it wants.

Nose: raisin, plum, fruity sweetness, oak, peppery spice, floral Taste: light fruity apricot, oak, green peppercorn, allspice, leathery, cedar, sweet tobacco, floral

The cinnamon and sweet spice are immediate, followed by deep caramel and red fruits. The finish is smooth and luxurious. An excellent experience

Whistlepig never disappoints and this 12 year Rye is no exception. Nice and spicy at first with a smooth sweet finish. Worth the extra $$$ if you can splurge occasionally.
