Magellan's Atlantic is the 7th edition in Whistlepig's Boss Hog series. The journey begins with a straight rye whiskey which aged for 17 years in American oak. Then the rye is transferred to Spanish oak for its next maturation which lasts for 3 weeks. Finally, the rye is placed into South American teakwood sourced from Brazil where it spends 3 days before bottling. These are single barrel expressions so the proof ranges from 105.1-107.8 depending on the barrel. Like previous editions, the brand's pig mascot adorns the top in a collectible pewter topper, this time dressed in traditional Spanish dress.
