Coming back to this after the first bottle I had after the change over to 116.8, which I judged quite harshly. It drinks much kinder than it did then. And it's one of the few whiskies that I think actually gets better with a bit of water. Without water it just feels like a hot 101 and is fairly uninteresting. With some water it gets much sweeter, more floral, and makes for a pretty nice dram.
Burnt caramel and spearmint on the nose
Thick texture with concentrsted honey notes up front that finishes with a satisfying rye spice. Strikes a great balance between sweetness and spice. Fairly subtle heat for the proof. Lingers with vanilla and caramel notes.
