Reviewed November 27, 2021 (edited November 28, 2021)Quite aromatic and fruity on the nose with notes of malt, red wine, dried red fruit, brown sugar, honey, cinnamon, chocolate and nutty sherry, surprisingly no rye notes. There is a slightly odd note that I can’t put my finger on (something roasted), not unpleasant though. The palate is not quite full and oily, but pleasant, semisweet with more nutty sherry, oak, dried fruits, cinnamon and other baking spices. A little bit of heat and bitterness, but not overbearing. No outstanding typical rye notes. The finish is not as long as I expected at 120 proof, but pleasant and warming with subtle notes of nutty sherry, spices and beeswax. Odd little rye, but it grows on me with every tasting. -

Reviewed June 16, 2020 (edited August 6, 2021)The appearance is like a rosé wine; it has a pinkish hue, hence the name, “Red Horse.” It also has exceedingly thin viscous legs. The complex nose contains notes of rye spice, corn dust, Potpourri, dry white wine, a young moonshine funk, a pile of dead leaves, and Froot Loops cereal. The palate has a watery mouthfeel, is sweet and clean, but has a new make/ moonshiney taste with notes of leather, roasted corn, and bitter rhubarb. The finish is nice with no burn though it’s shorter, and has a dark chocolate taste sending you off. Cheers!
