American Single MaltMade in the USA from 100% malted barley. Distilled at one distillery. Matured in oak casks no larger than 700L. Distilled to no higher than 160 proof (80% ABV). Bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) or higher. (This is the proposed Standard of Identity by the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission.)
Tasting Notes
"The aroma is a little closed at 108 proof, but you'll find a mix of green grass and hay along with a touch of nutty cereal grains. There's a splash of caramel here as well. On the palate, the whiskey is medium light in body and the flavors reflect the aroma with the added addition of a peppery bite. The flavor is bitter with just a dash of sweetness and there's a bit of a fresh beer back note as well as some pencil shavings. Adding water makes the age of the whiskey even clearer as you get more bitter and sour flavors; best to drink neat alongside a pint of ale. Needs more time in the barrel, but shows promise. "
