Talisker Distillers Edition
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed July 4, 2019 (edited March 30, 2020)The crown jewel. The lava of the Cullins already had an impressively unique and intriguingly complex symphony of salt, seaweed, and pepper. Add to that sweet fruit and you have yourself a damn fine dram. This is why we drink Scotch. -
Glenlivet 12 Year Double Oak
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed July 4, 2019 (edited June 3, 2022)Oily and fruity/grainy like your Sicilian grandmother. About as interesting too. Makes you wonder where these glorified prestige brands got their reputation. -
Glenkinchie 12 Year
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed July 4, 2019 (edited October 28, 2019)This is the quintessential boring Scotch. Fruit and grain flavors of medium strength surround a mid taste sharp, shallow burn. So middle of the road you’d swear you didn’t cross it to the officer. -
Dalwhinnie 15 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed July 4, 2019 (edited December 30, 2019)Living up to it’s moniker, this gentle spirit is not complex but provides a very consistent, clean flavor of honey with a well integrated alcohol burn. Truly underrated. -
Balvenie Doublewood 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed July 4, 2019 (edited October 20, 2020)Horribly bitter taste with a vague honey afterglow. A major disappointment in all counts! -
Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 Legacy Edition #1
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed May 5, 2019 (edited June 26, 2023)Surprisingly mellow and a friendly fellow. This good old boy will shake your hand to start and leave you feeling fine and just a little giddy before you know it, like a good friend.
