Macallan 12 Year Sherry Oak Cask (Old Bottling)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 2, 2022Taste... Such complexity with major notes of spice, and buttery viscosity. The grass and mature aspects come through.. Color... Dark amber to burnt orange Nose... So rich and fruity. Complex, setting you up for tasting... Overall... This ruined my entire night of drinking because I had the misfortune of tasting this first and the rest was downhill. Such great flavor from the first taste to the last. Herbal, grassy and rich.. don't pass this up.....80.0 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot -
Taste...Huge huge huge vanilla and caramel, banana, strawberry syrup, tobacoo and a whip cream boom... Nose... Raisins and leather. Clean pine as well. Stringent almost. Color... Slightly copper with an amber hue.. Overall... This banana split, chewy toffee, and graham cracker opening, is followed by hints of tobacco and leather. With such complexity, and the 8 years of time well spent, and well you've got yourself a gigantic winner... 5 out of 5 all day at $38.00 out the door tax included...38.0 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot

Angel's Envy Rye Finished in Caribbean Rum Casks
Rye — USA
Reviewed November 25, 2021 (edited December 29, 2021)Nose.... Burnt, carmalized, bottom of the kettle sweetness of a salty crunchy and buttery kettle korn that brought me into breakfast or dessert mode. Just so rich... Color... Full bodied light to medium mahogany... Taste... Just overblown. So much going on. Following my nose the taste of summer carnivals filled with caramel popcorn, roasted pecans, and a subtle cinnamon apple come to mind. The afterwards is vanilla sundae and molasses... Overall... It's not what I'd ever consider a daily drinker, but to sit back and try something new it's definitely touching upon subtle greatness. Very solid... Just age it more and it'll be 5 stars....80.0 USD per BottleGiant Eagle Supermarket -
Basil Hayden Dark Rye
Other Whiskey — Multiple Countries
Reviewed September 4, 2021 (edited August 3, 2023)Appearance... Mid to Dark Mahogany Nose... Definitely buttery, blending maple syrup, and cherries, which probably says a lot about the Port. Taste... Nutty, touched with banana, marshmallow, reminding me of french toast topped with melted butter. The Port is pronounced and enjoyed throughout the finish. Overall... For an under $50 this just turns out to be so solid. It's definitely a rye forward whiskey while also offfering a very rich and decadent breakfast appeal. Definitely worth a try...35.0 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot -
Nose... Such a great swirl. Butter and wheat bread charge out of the gate, with cherries and chocolate racing behind. Appearance... A midrange auburn, with bright copper tones. Oily legs running slow and steady. Taste... Burnt marshmallows, pecans, pepper, cherries, and wheat... Overall... This is just such a solid entry into the wheater category, and using a 45% wheat ratio is just what this category needed. It has complexity from the swirl, to the finish, and is pleasesant throughout. If Redemption can keep 1/3 of their barrels, and allow them to age to 7-10 years it will bring so much more to the plate. Still solid and worth the shelf, and at 96 proof it's still an easy choice neat....42.99 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot

Wheel Horse Bourbon (Batch 1)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 4, 2021 (edited September 5, 2021)Nose... Apple, cereal, oats, and a definite showcase of corn and rye. Both the rye and corn breakthrough once stirred. Color.. Dark amber hue, caramel driven... Taste... Peppery(in a great way), burnt corn, butterscotch, banana bread and cinnamon. Overall... They start with a very solid mash bill, and I think they only have room for improvement. This batch in itself, to have such depth at just two years of barrels age, and non-chill filtered is particularly impressive. If they continue this pace, this bottle will sell for 75+ retail after 6 more years of aging... Very solid start for a two year...29.99 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot -
Nose... Fresh green apples, cherries, corn and caramel lead the way.... It's definitely appealing and harkens dessert notes all day... Color... Mid copper to light mahogany... Taste... Cinnamon, brown sugar, cereal, leather and toffee are abound. From start to finish the taste evolves as you'd hope it would... Overall... This BIB from J.T.S. Brown is a solid as solid gets. As I begin to truly hone in on my discernable taste, I simply cannot find many flaws in the BIB rule I follow. At 4 years under strict watch and under mandated criteria, this line of Bourbon is just so so solid, especially at the cost...16.99 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot

Old Overholt Bonded Straight Rye Whiskey
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 26, 2020 (edited September 24, 2020)Nose... A slight cinnamon, apple, pepper, nutmeg and caramel come to mind. Color... Medium copper to the much sought after mahogany. Taste... The rye finds it's way to the forefront, and while it lingers a bit, the corn comes through with authority. Next there were hints of chocolate, pepper, cinnamon and apricot. Overall... It's definitely there as far as BIB is concerned. The age is there when it comes to the consistency and the ever present age that the 4 years offers. Like many BIB I've tried, this comes across as a dessert in a glass. That said, it's not a Rye in the sense that you'd hope to find, especially with 4 years in the barrel. The Rye isn't long lasting, the spice doesn't linger and it's lacking in depth. The corn overtakes the bottle and it leaves me wondering about the overall ratio. It's good, just not good to great....26.99 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot -
Nose... Wheat all the way, followed by lightly toasted almonds. Next is honey, butter, and vanilla ice cream... Color... It's light. Comes in as a medium to dark amber... Taste... This bourbon comes in subtle. It starts out with a traditional wheat note, smooth, easy drinking. Notes of butter, oats, vanilla and a very refined cinnamon rise to the top... Overall... The best way to describe this, is that it's plain, simple, mundane, and not all together memorable. That said, I'll kindly drink this bottle straight, and will put it aside for lazy afternoons where I need a bit more than usual...26.99 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot

J.W. Dant Bourbon Bottled in Bond
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 3, 2020 (edited August 12, 2020)For those like myself who are struggling during this pandemic called Covid 19, I'm in the midst of finding all the BIB's I can get my hands on. Why? Well, this used to be the gold standard as you could get a true proof with enough years to garner actual flavor. So today, I've taken the time to save my wallet amd to add a nicely needed buzz to my week. Thanks 100 proof... Nose... A vanilla ice cream packed sundae. It's a cliche if you've read my others, but its true. Add in a few green apple slices, some peanut butter, buttery more than peanuty, and you've got a warm dessert in liquid form. Depending on how open you get this bourbon, you might even find darker fruits like raisins and prunes. Color.... Slightly under mahogany, which is in my realm of trust. Taste.... Butter, butter, corn, salted roasted movie theatre popcorn. Soon enough, slight pepper and dry leather, and most importantly, the actual cask. That's a gift... Overall.... Either I'm sucummbimg to lower prices or I, like numerous others, have been dealt with a full on branch out circumstance. My cash flow is low, but BiB will be my saving grace. If I manage, then the BIB category will become my saving grace....22.99 USD per BottleBinny's Beverage Depot
