Not something I could sip. But would do very well in cocktails. Nose has a strong ethanol smell, which is to be expected from an over proof rum. Also smells of green bananas and unripened fruit. Alcohol punches you in the mouth and burns going all the way down. A strong palette of rubbing alcohol, reminds of me trying to do shots of 151 as a kid. Finishes with hints of banana and spices like clove and allspice. It has a surprising flavor profile for a white rum. Kind of wish it was a lower proof to make it more sippable.

Plantation Barbados 5 Year Rum
Aged Rum — Barbados
Reviewed August 16, 2021 (edited September 17, 2021)Pretty viscous body, which I would expect from a rum. Nose of caramel and butterscotch. Sweet forward note, with slight banana flavor. Caramel carries throughout. Nice light finish with a touch of spice from, cinnamon (maybe?). -
Rittenhouse Rye Bottled in Bond
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 13, 2021 (edited September 8, 2021)Surprising for a rye. Sticky body. A higher viscosity than expected. Nose is sweet. Vanilla and caramel with hints of oak and cinnamon. Taste is fire. Burns all the way down, at 50ABV, a little expected but definitely more than usual. Pretty mellow on the palette, tastes like baked bread with a hint of vanilla with a slight pepperiness from the rye. Burn on the finish with a slight numbing and hints of cinnamon. -
Macallan Double Cask Gold
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed August 12, 2021 (edited December 12, 2021)Nose of green apples with a hint of vanilla. Very mild and pleasant. Little bit of something sweet, maybe cherry or caramel. Tastes smooth. Again we see the green Apple and the vanilla. Touch of oak. Finishes creamy, like a vanilla milkshake. -
Light amber color with soft red hues. Decent body with a high viscosity, doesn’t really cling to the glass. Nose is sharp, stings the nostrils. Scents of caramel, light hint of char and smoke, sweet. Almost like a toasted marshmallow. Taste is mellow. Sweet with a bite, typical of bourbons. Slight hints of oak, woodiness, a touch of spice, maybe cinnamon.
