Tastes

This is good, and what I expect from Heaven Hill: rich, a little bit sweet, and quite quaffable. I wish that I could get it at home!

It tastes young and raw and grassy; and definitely Mexican. I have had Mexican cigars and Mexican coffee, and there is a young, dry grass backtaste that has permeated them all. Hay on the nose. Some sweet on the palate, and that dry grassy note. If anything...I would keep it around for an educational flight with their yellow corn, some blue corn (Balocnes or Kinsey), popcorn whiskey from Kinsey, and some popular dent corn whiskey, which is the standard corn used in most bourbon, I think.

This is an EXCELLENT bourbon for the price. Well rounded, sweet, a little spicy, and smooth.

One of the few ryes that I have really enjoyed; and I am guessing that the high proof is why. Rich, mouth coating flavor of subtle mint and tobacco and a bit of sweet. Further demonstration of my fan boy relationship with Heaven Hill.
