The nose is subtle at first but has a surprisingly sweet caramel note coupled with some hidden spice that only peaks out now and again. The palate is where the spice from the nose comes out of hiding to dance with the vanilla notes before truncating down to wood notes in the finish. No real fruit notes or much complexity. Not sure I even like this whiskey, and mildly annoyed that the sourcing and mash bill are hidden because I'd like to know where these flavors are coming from, yet at the end this whiskey changes enough to offer subtle differences every time you take a sip. Priced reasonably in my market.45.0 USD per Bottle

Not much of a nose -light whispers of smoke, but the smoke and rye elements blossom on the palate, really complimenting each other. The smoke flavor is light, no charcoal or ash but straight firewood, and the Rye adds character without getting spicy or dominant. Some light smoke plays on the finish too. Very well rounded and perhaps a great intro for those wanting to experiment with smoked whiskies.

Very delicate nose, for a bourbon. Light oak and some muted sweetness. The palate is stronger, with great caramel notes that linger into the finish. There's strength of character without some of the harshness of other bourbons. A nice oily mouthfeel. No ice needed. Very mellow and pleasant. Five year straight bourbon - the caramel notes are joined by some light spice and more wood notes. More classically bourbon but I prefer the younger.

The nose is a nice light grain with a dab of honey. A tinge around the edge, like a box of spices had walked past the barrel during maturation. Spice definitely grows the longer it sits in your glass but never overpowers. The palate taste is young and a little rough, with a moderate campfire smoke poking through. There's a light fruit on the finish after the smoke clears, apple or pear. Strong wood notes with a larger swallow. A little too young and raw, it doesn't feel put together. Would like to know what this is like with a few more years of maturation.

Medicinal corn on the nose, almost acrid. Palate has some light sweetness. This is very much a corn whiskey from beginning to end. The corn is not overpowering and doesn't have the spice a bourbon might have. Not complex at all but sippable and worth the price point. Wish it were more complex or had more to say rather than one-note wonder, but it still tells a full story.

This bourbon evolves while in the glass. Immediately out of the bottle, the nose and palate were all oak, with a haze of light pepper. Gradually, a corn profile emerged along with a satisfying spice in a lengthened finish. The corn is very distinctly corn too, not much vanilla. I wouldn't call it worth the MSRP but is still a relatively pleasant.

Bradshaw Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 24, 2021 (edited November 7, 2022)Plain Jane. Musty and corny on the nose. The palate is bland sweetness, like stale candy corn. Some spice walked by the still and glanced in. The finish is forgettable. -
Joseph Magnus Triple Cask Finished Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (Finished and Bottled in Washington DC), USA
Reviewed March 15, 2021A very subdued nose reminiscent of a deflated balloon or new Crocks. Further in, a little soft corn comes out. The palate is very different with some pepper up front that gives you enough to enjoy without overwhelming. The pepper fades pretty quick, leaving you with a very slight sweet (but quick) finish and an abiding warmth in the chest.
