Maker's Mark 46 Cask Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 26, 2022 (edited October 12, 2022)I killed my 109.7 proof bottle of this with a side by side with a makers mark cask 22-01. They have almost identical proofs. The 46 has more wine/woody nose but the cs has a a fuller sweeter nose. The nose translates over to the taste. 46cs has a little bit of a lighter mouth feel and a little more burn but the wood comes through making it really hold up. The mmcs is definitely richer, sweeter and chewy but they both taste great! -
Maker's Mark Cask Strength Batch 21-04 (109.4 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 24, 2022I killed this bottle with a side by side of mmcs 22-01. They both taste pretty similar but the 22 is a 109.7 proof and is a full size bottle. Both have sweet wheat dark fruit nose. 21-04 taste brown sugar and plums with a little ethanol. Has a little chewyness you get with wheat. A little subdued but it was a kill. Numb tangy finish. Rate 4 22-01- taste is way more full and rich with more of the sugared dark fruit flavor. Almost no ethanol. Still nice and chewy with a sweet light numb finish. Rate 4.25 I scored 3 bottles of the 22-01 for $30 a piece and I am happy. I don't need a 120 proof and sometimes those hit to hard. 110 proof is perfect for me. Its funny how good the cs is over the normal Mm. I think I even prefer it over the 46 cs as well. -
Kirkland Single Barrel Reserve Kentucky Bourbon by Barton 1792
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 21, 2022 (edited October 12, 2022)I did a head to head kirkland barton bib vs the kirkland barton sib (120 proof). The first thing you notice is the sib is a few shades darker (more red). Bib Nose : astringent , citrus and carmel. Taste: tangy sweet light pineapple, citrus a little cereal. Medium numb spicy finish. This is nothing to laugh at for less than $25 a liter. 3.75 Sib Nose : more rich and smooth with a citrus carmel as well. Taste: wow this shows up the bib. Almost twice as good. Smooth carmel, citrus, cherry, rich and deep. For only $5 more??? ($29) Finish is sweet, smooth with a little spice. 4.25 but I really want to rank it higher for the value. -

Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 19, 2022 (edited October 24, 2022)I decided to do a blind with Russell's 10 year, Wild Turkey Rare Breed and Russell's Reserve Private Selection. I poured all the glasses, let them rest for 20 to 30 minutes mixed the glasses up, closed my eyes mixed them up again. The first glass I picked up... I was like this is Russell's 10, the second glass I picked up I was like I'm pretty sure this is Wild Turkey Rare Breed and the third glass I picked up I was like yeah this is Russell's Private Selection. Lol I've never had such an easy blind. I guess it helps to have the same distiller with a different quality product. RR10 almost has a tangy light cherry and a little smokey nose. Taste is more subdued than the others carmel, ethanol cherry ends in a lighter cherry numb finish. This one has opened up since I bought it last year so I give it 4. Wild Turkey Rb has more of that wild turkey tangy nose we all know, cherry vanilla stronger and fuller than the 10. Taste also has that wild turkey tang but more complex and full bodied. Very smooth carmel and medium cherry. More of a sweet finish and a lighter numb. Very good stuff especially after the RR10. I give it a 4.25. Now we got the Russell's reserve private selection store pick...nose has less of the tang but sweeter and more cherry. Taste is a cherry bomb, super smooth but still strong, less of the Wt tang, good stuff!! This one is the winner with 4.5 but WTRB is no slouch.
