George Dickel 13 Year Bottled in Bond Tennessee Whisky (Fall 2008)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed November 12, 2022 (edited December 1, 2022)Nose: a little astringent, caramel Taste: very smooth, sweet vanilla, cola maybe a little sawdust wood. Sweet spicy popcorn, lite chocolate finish. Overall a very nice start the nighter. Does not offend and only gets better w every sip. In fact, further down the dram i get a little nuttiness. -
Lock stock 16 year rye vs Barrell 13 year rye 13 Nose : tart, rich spicey rye light ethanol 16 nose : sweet rich tangy almost like cheese but not 13 taste : tangy funk rye spicy, citrus fruits with a good funky spicy finish 16 taste : rich sweet smooth and oaky, rich desert wine rye with a lighter spicy finish Well I sampled the 13 first tonight and it showed up. It has more depth and spice and the flavor I want in a rye. I have rated the lock 16 higher before seperately. Lock is no slouch, very rich and sweet with a nice oak finish. Tonight the barrell wins but could be different another night. Either way both great ryes! Barrell 13 - 9.5/10 Lock 16 - 9.25/10

Reviewed October 29, 2022 (edited November 26, 2022)I did a head to head with 1915 blended bottle and 1920. I have reviewed both before so I will just go over the differences. Not a lot of differences on the nose. When you drink the 1920 you get the rich heat and spice then when you drink the 1915 right after it doesn't hold up. It seems lighter and more watered down. After a few sips of the 1915 though the oakey rich sweetness hits your palette and you appreciate it more. I have always loved the 1920 for its strength, flavor and spice. 1915 is a great balance of oak, richness and a bit of spice. Im gonna say its a tie tonight but I think either could win on any different night. -

Reviewed October 28, 2022 (edited February 8, 2023)This was a Batch Tucson 2022 pick 133.7 10 year. Hot nose brown sugar grapes Taste: rich, deep dark sugar, oily maple, almost winey chocolate, a light gasoline tinge (not bad though). Hot warm rich finish. This ones got a kick. I don't know if its for everyone but its for me. Its a finisher, not a starter. Not as rich as Jack sbbp or coy but its close. Cheers
