This is a fantastic bourbon for the price. Good Four Roses spice balanced with vanilla sweetness. This will always have a place on the shelf.

One of the first whiskeys I ever sipped was the Angel’s Envy Rum Cask Rye, so I probably had unrealistic expectations on the Port Finished bourbon. This is fine, just not terribly exciting or complex to me. It’s got a pleasant nose and is easy to sip neat, there’s just nothing calling me back to this one. I would never turn it down, there’s just so many others I’d go to ahead of this.

Man that first sip is spicy! But not bad, just real spicy. It took me by surprise even after reading the flavor profile. We sipped it in a Glencairn and added two small rocks. Probably could have done one. After the first few sips I got a lot of the sweeter notes. This is an excellent product at $50ish a bottle.

I have really enjoyed my first couple pours of this bottle. More notes to come on nose, palate and finish. I’ve found myself thinking about this one though and when I’ll have it again.

I’m from Wisconsin and so is Driftless Glen so I naturally have to like this. And I do. It’s a great sipper and how they source the ingredients is fantastic. It’s sweet on the palate, potentially too sweet for some, but I enjoy it. The finish is strong enough so you know it’s there. I got this as a gift for my 40th birthday and I’m glad I did. The old lady and I opened this one evening and around 3am we had half the bottle gone and figured it was bedtime.

Just a great single barrel value from Four Roses. Their high rye mash bill always adds nice spice balanced with the perfect amount of sweetness. This is one to keep around for me.

This is one I should always have on the shelf. It’s a perfect school night sipper. Low proof but has exceptional flavor. Nice rye spice balanced with sweetness. You can have a couple of pours once the kids are in bed, sleep well and still function well at work!

I enjoyed this more than I was anticipating based on some of what I was reading. I’m going to try taste again soon to add more notes on the taste.

This is a rather complex rye, and I’ve tasted it twice before placing a rating. I like it more the second time than I did originally, and I suspect that may continue. This rating could easily be 4.25. I taste lots of anise/black licorice initially with a sweet vanilla and spice finish. I’m looking forward to trying this again to see how this one continues to open up. What makes this even better is I found this at a Piggly Wiggly in Wisconsin. I couldn’t believe it when I saw this one lonely bottle on a shelf with a price tag of $49.99.

It may be the proof and I probably need to try it again in a couple weeks, but there just wasn’t much exciting about this for me. There was decent rye flavor with some sweetness, but it felt very thin to me and there was almost no finish. It’s ok, but at $100+ I’m a pass in the future.
