Barrell Bourbon Batch 033
Bourbon — (bottled in) Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 14, 2023 (edited June 14, 2024)Not sure my nose is that great but i get cocoa, sugar, and light citrus. Vanilla, oak and peanuts. Tongue: creamy burnt sugar and orange, apple pie spices, cocoa and caramel. Finish is long and spicy. A winner. Randomly: paired well with a Cameroon cigar. -
Barrel whiskey aj71 David's dram
Blended American Whiskey — Indiana and Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 14, 2023 (edited December 24, 2023)Nose is dominated by a molasses-spice note i’d say is the amaro. Darker flavors continue in the tongue with cinnamon, molasses, allspice, clove, leather. Spicy dark finish. I feel the amaro got the better of the whiskey but the result is acceptable. -
Cedar Ridge The QuintEssential American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Iowa, USA
Reviewed May 14, 2023 (edited August 10, 2023)Grassy, sugary grape and cherry brandy on the nose, very fruity with a hint of lemon curd. Lemon custard on the palate, mildly sweet and smoky with a little vanilla. A salty leather note sneaks in and makes me think i’m drinking scotch. Cinnamon and clove on the finish with a lingering peat aftertaste. Deserves a spot in the echelon of American whiskey contenders with Barrell, Balcones, Ransom, High West…Gomer's of Kansas -

Old Forester 1897 Bottled In Bond
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 13, 2023 (edited August 19, 2023)Nose has a smoky, grassy, briney note swirling around pear and apple like fall in New Hampshire. Palate is fruity with oak and wet grass. Cinnamon and clove and pepper show up on the finish with more oak. It’s too expensive for cocktails so the question you need to ask is whether it stacks up against other sipping bourbons at this price point. Knob Creek 120 may have something to say about that. -
