Classic rye nose with caramel, grain, nuts, sawdust and ethanol. Palate doesn’t hold any surprises, a tough but smooth rye that delivers what you’d expect without a lot of nuance but with plenty of class. Would make a good comp for Knob Creek or Wheel Horse at a similar proof.50.0 USD per BottleRoberts Retail Liquors

Recently tried the Lost Monarch and enjoyed it so decided to give this a chance. Nose was elusive, had to stick my nose into my glencairn: honey, herbs, rye spice and maybe some green apple. Palate is delicate with more herbs, mild sweetness, mowed grass. Gentle finish. This is the “kid gloves” of ryes. Young and lightweight.

Redwood Empire Cask Strength Lost Monarch (2022 Release)
Blended American Whiskey — USA
Reviewed May 25, 2023 (edited August 10, 2023)Nose is apricot, raspberry and rye spice with vanilla, oak and a black tea note. Contrary to the expert review, there is plenty to smell. Palate is spicy cinnamon, cherry, cloves and apple pie with wood, vanilla and pepper. It mellows with a few drops of water. Long baking spice finish with mint coming in to add a savory note. Very good.70.0 USD per BottleWhiskey Snug -
