Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 15, 2021 (edited December 23, 2021)This is really a good bourbon but not great. The nose brinks full sweetness (caramel???) with light spice. As you taste it, it is mainly the same. Nothing more, on the other hand, you can easily enjoy it with it is smoothness. For an every day drum or a starting unit on a whiskey tasting it is perfect, but if you are looking for something special, this shouldn’t be your choice. -
Nice and classic overpeated Islay scotch. The peat is dominating on each second of the drinking experience. On the other hand, the complexity is somehow there but you need to force you senses to dig them. Little bit lighter peatness would let more taste from the complex cask finish process. For me it was very close to Laphroaigh 10.

Highland Park 12 Year Viking Honour
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed December 9, 2021 (edited December 25, 2021)It has a strong dual character in a positive sense despite of 40 abv: touch of smooth sweetness and strong (ancient Viking???) character. The nose promising the honey, light peat, some spice and little citrus. The taste is in perfect harmony with it but the peat and the orange are dominating more. Sweetness and character are in balance. The finish maybe can be longer - this is what a little bit pulls down the whole exercise, but it is definitely nice one. Maybe just the Highlight Park puts the expectations too high :) -
You can smell the nice grain, on the other hand it isn’t too complex. Very slight vanilla, not easy to recognise apple and citrus. The grain is over dominating the fruit, on the other hand it predicts smooth taste. The taste is in harmony what you smelled in your nose. Not so complex, but really smooth taste. The grain is still dominating it, maybe more apple what you have in your nose. The taste doesn’t last long, but gives more pleasant experience than others in this price range.

Maker's Mark 46 French Oaked
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 15, 2021 (edited December 9, 2021)Full bodied, complex bourbon, nicely spiced with the winter red wheat. Classic vanilla with some cherry and chocolate. Long lasting taste. This is really the quintessence of Maker’s Mark.
