Glenkinchie 2008 Distillers Edition (Bottled 2020)
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 20, 2024 (edited September 21, 2024)Underrated. The smoky, woody at nose, then completely smoky at mouth and a hint of peppermint. Spicy but dont burn, straightforward smoky but not intense. It is very grounded. Rest for a bit: ink Dilute with one drop of water for 1oz, it is so genteel that it almost gets peaty without the rubbles or thr kick. It’s a temperature. No ethanol in taste; ethanol is s temp. It’s cold and frisky, smoky. Almond core might be a bit but a pecan apple pie is more accurate.Montgomery Scotch Lounge -

Canadian — Turner Valley, Alberta, Canada
Reviewed September 1, 2024I like it. Floral, butterscotch, not smooth like crown royal but a good whiskey if you like corn, rye. It’s not the sweet ones you look for but good. Dates and popcorn. -
Better than Glenfiddith 15 cider flavor, crisp crown apple. This one when leaving out for a bit, it’s subtle. Better than any cider I had, since this one isnt sour no sugar or bubbly or sweet. This is the brandy that taste like rum, the rum that feel’s like a good cognac yet better than the cognac I had (hennessey XO) It almost feel like a vsop champage bubbly but a lot more complex. Dry aged duck, dry aged steak, it has an aroma from meat/protein being stuck and sealed and aged for a while. It smells like a damp room where the barrels are placed, and apples decay naturally in those, if I drop an apple under my bed today in a few months it might smells exactly like this one. It’s decayed and aged. I love this one. Calvados got great brandy.
