Very light yellow color, probably the lightest I have had. Aroma is floral with a hint of fruit, but distinctly Scotch in a good way. Taste starts sweet and fruity but then lets in hints of smoke. A little bitterness on the back of the tongue to finish, but quite pleasant. A touch of water brightens it up a bit. All around I really like this and would need to seek out its older siblings.

Rich golden color with just a hint of green. Aroma is fairly weak but pleasant, some floral notes, but hard to distinguish. Very flavorful for weak aroma. Sweet and grassy notes. Some hints of spice in the background. Very grassy in the finish, but pleasantly so. A touch of water doesn’t change the flavors, but does dull the alcohol just enough. Very pleasant, would gladly drink again.

Balvenie Doublewood 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 8, 2018 (edited December 19, 2018)Slightly more woody color than other 12 year olds. Soft aroma with floral and vanilla notes. Taste brings some nice vanilla and caramel notes. The alcohol comes in and warms you without knocking you out. The finish has a nice mellow oak flavor. A touch of water beings out the caramel and adds a hint of pepper. Some grassy bitter notes on the finish. Very pleasant scotch and more complex than many of similar age.
