At first, I didn't get much from the nose. Some sweet and saltiness, but couldn't pick out anything distinct. This would change after a few sips, where I started to notice more fruit notes. After the initial lackluster nose, the flavors came through on the first sip. There's an initial note of dark malt and grape. Really unique dark berry notes are coming through before some heavy spices come through. It finishes on some mint. Not overpowering, but refreshing. Then some apple, caramel and malts round it out. It's unique. Not necessarily complex, but the changes flavors are evident throughout, and there's enough there to keep it ad a consistent pour.

Heaven's Door Single Barrel Cask Strength Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed March 11, 2023 (edited March 22, 2024)Barrel 28537 Proof 118.9 Bottle 110 The nose is very pleasant. Notes of vanilla, cherry, butterscotch and apple. The palate is very distant than the nose however, with heavy spice. Definitely on the spicy end of the spectrum. It's too bad because it hides much of the other flavors. For this there's a real lack of balance. Some fruit comes through for a split second with dark caramel. The spice and pepper just take over. It coats the mouth, and leaves a decent spice and dark fruit finish. It's a bit disappointing. The nose is really nice which gave me some high hopes for this one. It isn't bad for what it is. I might need to sit with this and maybe it will open up some. -
There's quite a bit of fruit on the nose, as well as brown sugar and oak in the back. The fruit notes of red apple and citrus come through on the palate, then theres a rush of rye spice with cinnamon. There's a nice finish and mouthfeel. The flavor packs quite a bit of punch, while still remaining balanced with the fruit notes and spice.

Reviewed March 4, 2023Bottle is 053/240 Blend consists of: Batch I14-05 50% Batch H14-26 30% Batch B13-15 20% Nose consists of heavy oak, pine and floral notes. The palate begins semi sweet before black licorice and dark coffee cltakes over. There's a bit of almond or raisin as well. Bit of cocoa on the finish with oak. The bit of the rye blend comes through slightly, but is more prevalent on the finish as more spice comes through the malt presence. The finish stays with you for a bit. An enjoyable sipper that really opens up. -
Bardstown Bourbon Co. Origin Series Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 27, 2023 (edited May 1, 2023)It has a pretty strong, but nice nose. Hints of chocolate, peanut brittle, cherry and sweet caramel. Nice flavors as well. You can definitely taste the proof which isn't a bad thing. It opens with an apple note along with oak that eventually brings out more of the chocolate in the back. Mixed berries and spice as well near the finish. The finish is nice but a bit dry. Average mouthful.
