This one is incredibly solid and approachable. Nots of apple, maple syrup, pecan, and the nicest leather note I've ever smelled from a rye. The palate continues that apple but sweeter. Cinnamon apple pie, Graham cracker, but of leather and caramel before there's a nice spicy finish. Would make for a great fall rye if you can find it at your local store.

World Whiskey Society 10 Year Bourbon Finished in a Port Cask
Bourbon — Oklahoma, USA
Reviewed August 27, 2024Vastly different reviews here. The nose has notes of blackberry jam. Pecan. Sweet and incredibly welcoming. The palate has a dark caramel coated flavor to it. It's not as sweet as the nose, but the blackberry is still present. There's nuttiness and oak on the finish. Tastes a bit hot on the finish. Its a solid bourbob with some nice flavors present. Nothing super complex, but it reminds me of having blackberry preserve and peanut butter sandwiches as a kid. -
Iron Fish Barrel Strength Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Sherry Casks
Bourbon — Thompsonville, Michigan , USA
Reviewed August 5, 2024Single Barrel Barrel # 1179 Proof 116.4 Notes of orange, cherry, and berry on the nose. Some mint. Those fruit notes appear on the palate, but more tart at the beginning. I noticed some apple before more of a sweeter cherry shows up on the finish, which ends on a dry note. It's a little hot, but not terribly so. -
Benchmark Single Barrel Bourbon (95 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed July 14, 2024 (edited July 15, 2024)The nose packs quite a bit. Heavy red fruit. Really nice oak note. Almost saw dust. Slight leather. The flavor is pretty thin. Those fruit notes are there but dissipate quickly. Pleasant spice. There's more oak than anything, but berry does show up more at the finish along with a slight bitterness. Some spice lingers on the finishes. But again, it was pretty thin throughout. -
Eagle Rare Single Barrel Select
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed July 6, 2024 (edited July 7, 2024)Barrel #022 The nose came out of left field for me. Much darker notes than expected at first. Dark caramel. A prevalent oak note. Slight tobacco. Dark berry. Apple. There was an herbal note, which i was surprised by. Vanilla/cherry becomes noticeable as it opens up. The palate sweetened up some with berry coming through. The dark caramel is still staying prevalent along with oak underneath. It ends with a real sweet cherry, which has reminded me of some finished bourbons I've had in the past. I do love a high proof bourbon. But these ER's remind me again and again that you can find so much flavor in a bottle below 100 proof. This one, in particular, has some complexity behind it. I'm a fan of Eagle Rare, but the initial smell made me worried. But I've found it has everything I like about it, plus more. -
It has a good nose, though it's a bit one-dimensional. Quite sweet. Heavy spice along with bubblegum. Credit to the mashbill and ingredients used, it has a nice uniqueness. Solid mouthfeel. Spice. Red fruit. Slightly medicinal. Oak. Wheat cereal. A dry finish that lingers for days. It's not a bottle I'd usually buy, but still appreciate it for what it is.

Good varied nose on this. Caramel. Vanilla. Marshmellow. Spice. The palate lacks. It isn't bad, but as another reviewer mentioned, the price doesn't match. For 20 dollars cheaper, it would be an easy purchase. Mostly charred oak on this. Vanilla lingering with a red fruit note. Maple. A big plus for how easy to drink it is. Might be one of the easier 100 proofs around. I haven't enjoyed Penelope all that much. This one redeemed it some.

Still Austin The Musician Cask Strength
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed February 18, 2024 (edited March 11, 2024)I enjoyed the straight bourbon, so I had a good feeling about this one. I was surprised just how much I liked it. The nose and palate I found to be quite similar. It's incredibly flavorful. The burn is there, and notes are still very noticeable. Berry. Apple. Dark cherry and chocolate on the palate. Bit of mint. Cinnamon. Chocolate on the finish with spice. I've been burnt by other similar brands that have come out of nowhere and garnered tons of hype. This is one that has finally been worth every penny.
