Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch A123
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 10, 2023 (edited April 4, 2023)The nose has notes of dark caramel, pepper, orange peel, vanilla, oak, and a bit of leather. The fruit notes are a bit in the background but are present enough to add dimension. It's really nice. The flavor has heavy-handed dark caramel, and some saltiness lies with the heavy spice. Its quintessential EC flavors turned up to 11. There's some red hot candy as well with pepper and nice char flavor. It finishes on the slightly sweeter side, still drenched with oaky caramel. My initial impression was that it was a solid pour. The more I drink it, the more I like it. -
It's unique to say the least. It had a nice nose, with a below average flavor profile. The nose had a bit of an apple cider note, with another fruit note I cant quite pick out. Honey as well, something a bit sour in the back, and a slight floral note. It begins with that apple note along with oak. It transitions into some sort of dark berry note. It ends with a strange dry finish. Has this sort of strange liquor taste you'd expect from a cheap liquor. It might remind you of your college days. There's something sour about it you can quite put your finger on. The fruit notes present makes it like they're not quite ripe. I give it credit for trying something different. With a few tweaks there can be something pretty good. But as it stands, it's a bottle you can skip.

George Dickel 13 Year Bottled in Bond Tennessee Whisky (Fall 2008)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed February 1, 2023 (edited April 11, 2024)Notes of sweet vanilla, caramel, some smoke, a bit of nuttiness as well. The char is quite prevalent on the flavor profile along with dark berry, licorice, cinnamon, almond, and slight smoke with a finish of burnt oak and spice. This is a really good pour. The nose and flavor are on two different ends of the spectrum. But they're both very pleasant. There's a nice lingering flavor that pulls you back for another sip. I like it more as time goes on. -

Old Forester Classic 86 Proof
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 27, 2023 (edited June 15, 2023)It's not in my preferred proof range, but I was pleasantly surprised. There's a sweet citrus nose present. Apple, orange, sweet maple. The flavors align with the nose with an oakiness behind it. It finishes on a bit of a mint and oak note that is nice but quickly dissipates. It's thin, and doesn't quite pack a punch like you'd expect. Its easy drinking and great for the price. -
Driftless Glen Single Barrel Cask Strength Straight Rye
Rye — Wisconsin , USA
Reviewed January 17, 2023A lot of spice in this one. Caramel, apple, berry, lemon on the nose. Sweet and spicy. It has a much darker flavor to it. Heavy spices, pepper, dark berry, nuts, dark caramel and ending on a solid oak note. Has a very thick mouthfeel. This is well above average, high proof bourbon. -
A pretty average whiskey. Light, but still drinkable. The nose has some floral notes with honey and apple. The flavor profile is a bit better, honey with some apple and spice. The floral nature isnt present on the palate. I dont care much for Irish whiskey, so you can take this with a grain of salt.
