The rating has nothing to do with the packaging. The packaging is clearly 5 out of 5. Its visually appealing, as is the whiskey inside with a nice red color to it. The whiskey itself, incredibly average. Not much flavor outside of the currant. Theres a slight bite to it, even for the proof. Im sure the blend is young. Still, I appreciate that it still tastes like a whiskey. The fruit isnt overpowering like other whiskeys that are conparable. The problem is still that it lacks anything outside of that. Its thin. Leaves no finish. Theres somr seeetness, some tartness. The berry note is noticable but as mentioned, isnt overpowering. Its nothing i would buy again. Perhaps as a gift. But for the price, theres better fruit forward options. Cool bottle though.

Maker's Mark Cask Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 20, 2023 (edited September 26, 2023)Very pleasant fruit forward nose. Apple, cherry and vanilla along with some burnt caramel. The palate as quite a bit to offer. Begins with apple pie before oak become noticeable. Butterscotch on the finish along with some great spice. Really nice balanced bourbon here between the bright and dark notes. There's everything you'd want along with an even amount of spice. It's an easy sipper for the proof, and a tasty one. -
A strong nose is here, contrasted by a very soft palate. I'm noticing a smokiness with orange on the nose. The orange note is pretty sweet, similar to a candy. I'm instantly reminded of a scotch. This continues on the palate. The flavor on the palate is not as evident. Whats on the nose is there but it continues with some nuttiness and quite a bit of leather. The flavors calm down until the finish where the oak and leather come though. It's thin. Could be considered smooth with a very low proof. Nothing about this is necessarily bad. But as mentioned, it's thin. It cam be described as similar to a scotch. Not super flavorful, but can be easy to sip. An average pour. Middle of the road would work as a description.

Sweet but spicy nose. Burnt orange. Vanilla. Slight saltiness and caramel. The palate starts with some bright fruit notes. Green apple and orange. Then it goes into some dark flavor notes. Dark caramel, almost bordering on black licorice. A bit of smoke in the background with the oak. The extra proof really adds some extra dimension to an already good bottle. Nice finish. Slightly dry with some burn. A great purchase for 40 dollars if you can find it.

Thin, which i l understandable for the proof. Lacks much flavor outsides oak and caramel. Theres a touch of leather and grass on the nose. No real finish, though its a bit dry. For 18 dollars its a fine purchase. Theres nothing really bad about the bottle to speak of, especially with the price in mind. Its just thin, lacks flavor. But for what it is, its fine.

King's Creek Black Label Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee , USA
Reviewed May 13, 2023Quite a bit of difference here from the nose and the flavor profile. The nose is heavily fruit forward. Banana and apple. Sweet to the point where it's a sort of candy smell. Not bad, but not much else is present. There's some floral note but I'm digging to find it. The palate is much more dark caramel. Very dark caramel. Some oak comes there especially on the finish, where you can surprisingly find some proof in this low proof bourbon. Something tastes off about it. This isn't something I would have again, even if I was offered. -
Like a lot of other reviewers for this bottle, I get that cherry cola on the nose along with red hots candy. Some vanilla and heavy spice as well. The cherry continues on the palate along with red apple, slight pepper and fiery oak. The finish stays nicely with a slightly fruit but heavily spiced note. Notice some chocolate malt as well but not very forward. Will have to do a test along with the last few bottle releases. This here though, is a really solid offering with some great flavors.

Old Tub Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 8, 2023 (edited March 19, 2024)A pretty middle of the road one here. It's sweet with a bit of darker malt flavors in the back which linger to the finish, which is quite nice. Dark caramel notes and oak, a bit buttery which stays for some time. But I go back and forth on this. But ultimately, nothing really stands out. The flavors are balanced. The proof is there but not off-putting. For the 20 dollar price of purchase, I certainly don't regret it. It makes an adequate mixer.
