King's Creek Black Label Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee , USA
Reviewed May 13, 2023Quite a bit of difference here from the nose and the flavor profile. The nose is heavily fruit forward. Banana and apple. Sweet to the point where it's a sort of candy smell. Not bad, but not much else is present. There's some floral note but I'm digging to find it. The palate is much more dark caramel. Very dark caramel. Some oak comes there especially on the finish, where you can surprisingly find some proof in this low proof bourbon. Something tastes off about it. This isn't something I would have again, even if I was offered. -
Like a lot of other reviewers for this bottle, I get that cherry cola on the nose along with red hots candy. Some vanilla and heavy spice as well. The cherry continues on the palate along with red apple, slight pepper and fiery oak. The finish stays nicely with a slightly fruit but heavily spiced note. Notice some chocolate malt as well but not very forward. Will have to do a test along with the last few bottle releases. This here though, is a really solid offering with some great flavors.

Old Tub Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 8, 2023 (edited March 19, 2024)A pretty middle of the road one here. It's sweet with a bit of darker malt flavors in the back which linger to the finish, which is quite nice. Dark caramel notes and oak, a bit buttery which stays for some time. But I go back and forth on this. But ultimately, nothing really stands out. The flavors are balanced. The proof is there but not off-putting. For the 20 dollar price of purchase, I certainly don't regret it. It makes an adequate mixer. -
The nose is quite similar to the palate on this one. Burnt orange, wood, dark malts and slightly floral. The orange and oak ride through quite nicely on the palate as it finishes on those darker malts, this time with a bit of spice. It's nicely balanced. There's good flavor to he had here. A good bottle for the age and price.

Barrell Seagrass
Rye — (bottled in) Kentucky, Multiple Countries
Reviewed April 17, 2023 (edited May 3, 2023)Grass notes on the nose along with some dankness in the back, black berry with a bit of citrus as well. Quite a bit of burn on the nose that doesn't appear in the least on the palate. Must be one of the most easy drinking cask strengths I've had. Easily. All kinds of fruit on the palate. It stays on the forefront with maple syrup lingering in the back. Apple appears with red licorice candy while the darker fruit notes that stay mostly consistent throughout. -
Michter's US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 9, 2023 (edited May 3, 2023)A fairly standard bourbon. Might be a nice selection for newcomers. Though, it does seem theres a bit more burn than expected with the proof. On the nose some toffee, even some burnt caramel. Apple as well as a some grainy quality there. The palate as I've said is standard. Your expected flavors along with some vanilla and a hint of cherry on the finish. It all sorts of blends together in a way that can make picking out a few of these notes difficult on first few sips. Perhaps it's nicely balanced. But nothing really comes through enough for this to stick out among other bourbons around this price point. -
Dark fruit is very apparent on both the nose on the palate. A bit of oak and spice on the nose with some interesting toasted note slightly in the background. A little bit of maple as well. As previously mentioned, the dark fruit fruit begins on the palate. It lightens up a bit with some bright red apple coming through. You start to notice that proof burn in a pleasant way. It's rounds out with spice and vanilla. Off memory alone, this seems like a much better offering than the green label. There's a bit more to offer here. Not overly complex, but nicely balanced with a good amount of spice.

The nose is on the sweeter end of the spectrum. Apple snd sweeter cherry. The palate is has dark caramel with heavy spice and oak. The finish has some slight leather with a bit of apple coming back. Theres a sour note as well which I'm not really into. Its a bit of a mixed bag but the nose is terrific and the spice gives it a particular edge thats enjoyable. Plus its the perfect proof. I'd buy it again at msrp.

Well above average bourbon. A bit standard nose however. Apple, vanilla, burnt caramel. The palate has a bit more to offer. Sour apple on the front, then it goes into more dark caramel malt notes. Some spices come through as the finish is a bit more on the sweeter end. Nice lingering finish with a bit of spice throughout. I appreciate the spice as its light, but adds some variety.
