Aberlour A'bunadh
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 17, 2022 (edited March 4, 2022)Months later, pretty much the same opinion. Its decent like macallan even more prominent orange note than macallan but doesn’t hold a candle to better sherry drams like glendronach, bunnahabhain and redbreast. -
First taste of the sample, not impressed but might need to oxidize in the bottle. The scent is amazing, the most beautiful oloroso notes but it tastes like a slightly less astringent, more viscous, more integrated Kilchoman Sanaig. It doesn’t measure up to ballechin stfc bourdeaux or even ballechin 10 yr standard.

Top notch peated label from a top notch distillery. Even though this is the bottom shelf ballechin, it’s excellent. Highland peat and sugar. Thin mouthfeel and fast finish due to low abv but comparable in quality to ardbeg 10. I would get this again even though there are phenomenal cask strength finishes in the SFTC series. Great representation of Highland peat, unlike the mediocre and forgettable highland park 12.

The Glenrothes Whisky Maker's Cut
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 24, 2022 (edited March 25, 2022)Second tasting just not very good sherried malt. Doesn’t compare to the other scotches i named in prior note. Amateur shit. -
Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed January 24, 2022 (edited July 24, 2022)Too young to be good, some burn and too malty. But a much older version of this preferably at cask strength might be amazing, an orchard fruit salad a la balvenie tun. Is that why peeps go bananas for black art? Is that a cheaper version of tun?
