Ragged Branch Double Oaked Wheated Bourbon
Bourbon — Virginia, USA
Reviewed January 23, 2021 (edited November 17, 2021)Excellent oaky taste with sweet notes on the end. Too pricey for more than a occasional indulgence. -
Jim Beam Single Barrel Bourbon 108 Proof
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 21, 2021 (edited August 11, 2023)Nose is maple and nutty sweet. Plenty of vanilla and caramel and oak char. Higher proof makes it have a definite burn on the finish, but not too strong ethanol flavor-wise. A solid bourbon. -
As far as neutral vodkas go, this one is all right. I like it better than Grey Goose, which I think has hardly any taste at all. Tito’s has practically nothing on the nose but at least has a little Pepperiness to it. Well priced, but I would go with something with more character like Kettle One or Chopin’s if I were drinking it neat.

Chila 'Orchata Cinnamon Cream Rum
Dairy/Egg Liqueurs — USA
Reviewed November 7, 2020 (edited September 11, 2022)This is a superior cream-based liqueur to Bailey’s. You can definite taste the cinnamon (which is not overpowering), but just as prominent are the vanilla and nutmeg flavors. This is fine by itself, but it is begging to be used in a dessert drink like a Brandy Alexander or a Mudslide or a Eggnog. Enjoy it over the holidays! -
Larceny Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 20, 2020 (edited November 18, 2020)An interesting take on a wheated bourbon like its rival Maker’s Mark (one of my favorites). I love the strong caramel notes on the nose and it has solid sweet corn finish, but it’s not very complex in between on the palate. Yes, it’s very sippable and it has a nice medium burn, but it’s lacking on the oaky and spicy notes.
