Tastes

One of my favorite liqueurs. Tastes like honey with a ton of holiday spices and a cinnamon flavor that lingers. The heat is just right and does not taste too boozy. This is pleasant to sip on, but my favorite way to use it is with old Tom gin and dry vermouth in a Ford or with rye whiskey, cognac, and sweet vermouth in a vieux carre.

Picked this up because I am a big fan of Pimm’s No. 1, but was very disappointed with this. Overwhelmingly blackberry forward, like drinking blackberry juice from concentrate. Does have an elderflower aftertaste, but it’s subtle. Tried mixing with American-style lemonade, lemon sparkling water, and club soda, but the blackberry flavor is just too cloying. Only thing that halfway worked was mixing with tonic water. Will not buy again.

Chartreuse Green Liqueur
Herbal/Spice Liqueurs — France
Reviewed July 28, 2020 (edited June 19, 2021)An incredibly sippable and tasty herbal liquor. Drink it by itself, in a gin martini, or in an old school bijou. Pricey, but well worth it. Those French monks know what they are doing.
