Only slightly more palatable than E&J VS. This at least resembles cognac enough to be recognizable as in the style of cognac. Still way too harsh with the ethanol bite, and way too medicinal with the fruit notes. I could sip this if there were no other option, and it makes a passable brandy Alexander, but for me, the extra money is worth it to go up the next level for the Courvoisier VS (my standard house cognac).

As everyone says, it has all the peat and smoke you could want, for better or worse. The brininess of seaweed is there, too. This is the centerpiece of a cocktail our local bar the Alley Light makes called the Fancy Leather Couch. The Laphraoig 10 is combined with black tea and St. Elizabeth’s All Spice dram. My wife’s all time favorite. It does not get more complex or interesting than that!

As others have said, it is thin. It is too sweet. It tastes artificial. It is cheap. It’s not to be consumed neat, but I do like a Malibu Bay Breeze, and if you mix enough fruit juices and schnapps with it, it will make a perfectly refreshing tiki cocktail for when you are in the mood for that sort of thing.

Really nice corn and spice on the nose. The palate is a bit too maple syrupy for me to drink neat, though. I like bourbons on the sweeter side, but this has so much brown sugar and caramel it is a bit overwhelming. This was gifted by my brother who lives in Chattanooga. This will probably be great as a mixer, but not my go-to nightcap.

Evan Williams Eggnog
Other Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 9, 2021 (edited December 13, 2022)Delicious. A solid eggnog with a warm bourbon flavor. I could drink this whole bottle myself one night if I’m not careful. Happy holidays! -
I unfairly always associated Jager with Red Bull and Jager Bombs and bro culture, so I never included it in my bar. However, it makes for a decent amaro and adds great cola and sweet licorice flavors to cocktails (not nearly as bitter as herbal liqueurs with strong anise flavors). My favorite use for it right now is with gin and sweet vermouth. Glad I revisited this ‘90’s super fad.
