    It’s like bad boozy sweet and sour mix, with way too much sour. I tried it neat and with cognac (The Incredible Hulk) and neither are good. The latter is a waste of perfectly good cognac. This is an early 2000’s marketing ploy that I am not sorry disappeared.

    A lot more cinnamon intensity and ethanol burn than Fireball whiskey. Less sweet, too. I can see where Fireball would be more popular overall, but I think I slightly prefer Goldschläger. A shame that it’s heyday as a popular bar shot in the ‘90’s seems to died. I know the gold flakes are just a marketing ploy, but it’s a good one.

    I could get nothing but lemon peel from the nose. There is a lot going on, though, on the palate. Too much to tease apart. Juniper, citrus, and green tea among many others. I could see sipping this as a novelty botanical-heavy gin, but it would not be my first choice as a mixer.

    The juniper is there but gets a little lost in all of the botanicals. Sips easy and dry. I definitely like it for an occasional change of pace from my London Drys. I feel like I notice a different herb every time I sip!

    Not something I would drink neat (has the strange quality of being both syrupy and astringent) but a little goes a long way and adds a lot of spicy flavor to a cocktail. Traditionally used with Tiki rum-based drinks, but my wife and I like it with whisky. We were first introduced to it by a local bar in Charlottesville called The Alley Light that makes a drink called the Fancy Leather Couch: Scotch Whiskey, Allspice Dram, and Earl Gray Tea. Delicious!

    Lots of floral and spice on the nose. I get a lot of orange peel with all the botanicals. Has a fair amount of botanicals for a contemporary gin, too. I usually want a London Dry, but this is one of the better contemporaries that I have had.

    Tastes like a mid-level bourbon at a bargain bourbon price. Lots of char and oak on the nose. Palate is thin but still has lots of vanilla, baking spice, caramel, and malt. Burn is moderate but not overwhelming. Perfect for mixing bourbon cocktails with friends.

    I appreciate that this is a great gateway gin for non-gin drinkers, but I like my gin much more juniper-forward. Sapphire has more citrus and spice and a ton more alcohol burn than, say, Tanqueray or Beefeater, and I much prefer their more traditional take on a London Dry.

    Tastes like a combination of Cointreau and Campari. Not something I would drink neat but delicious with Prosecco in a spritz.
