Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 15, 2018 (edited December 21, 2018)Missed out on Pappy (what’s new?), so snagged this little beauty. Surprisingly hard to find in Utah. Wood, cherry, cinnamon, and something perfume-like on the nose (please tell me the wife didn’t slip something in here). Loads of vanilla, cherry, oak on the first hit. Leather, a touch of resin, and a little bit of peach follow. Long legs for a long walk on the finish. Really love this bargain beauty.35.0 USD per BottleSalt Lake City -
Pitched as an everyday sipper, I’d go with more of a once a week sidecar. Some oak and resin with a decent little punch. Warm and slightly dry with burnt toast (or what burnt toast smells like but in taste form, or whatever), some red wine, and a little bit of a late kick. Thanks to whoever left this hanging around after our holiday party. A welcome addition.33.0 USD per BottleSalt Lake City

Barrell Whiskey Infinite Barrel Project (February 12, 2018)
Other Whiskey — (bottled in) Kentucky, Multiple Countries
Reviewed December 15, 2018 (edited March 31, 2021)This is the March Batch, which some folks seem to be laying here. So here we go...Alcohol forward (and all the damn way through), this one opens WAY up with a touch of water. A totally woody on the first wash (who doesn’t love a nice woody?!) with a layer of cognac and pepper following. A bit of a dry but lingering finish that sits on a welcome bed of brown sugar, wood chips, and all that sweet, sweet burn these folks are known for. This one is bottle 786. Cheers!49.0 USD per Bottle -
Isaac Bowman Straight Bourbon Finished in Port Barrels
Bourbon — Virginia, USA
Reviewed December 7, 2018 (edited April 16, 2019)Sweet cherry and brown sugar on the nose that mutes out with a splash of water. Gives way to an orange note. First notes of dry red wine, cherry, toffee, and heat. The heat lingers and finishes dry. That splash of water adds a linger of cinnamon.35.0 USD per BottleSalt Lake City -

Reviewed November 19, 2018 (edited November 22, 2018)Better every time. Heavy on the heat with oak, earth, leather, moss, and vanilla. A goddamn steal. Toss in an ice chip and you get more tobacco and leather along with cinnamon and red wine. Long finish that ends dry. In a good way. Like sunshine after a flood.Salt Lake City -

Booker's Bourbon Batch 2017-02 "Blue Knights Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 5, 2018 (edited November 13, 2018)Plenty of heat on the nose per usual, but with an interesting nutty tartness. The high heat opens up to cinnamon, bark, toast, moss, and that punchy heat. Hard to roll around on the tongue, but a welcome lingering bite.Salt Lake City
