The nose is sweet, with agave and a bright fruity citrus held up by black pepper and cinnamon, with a vaguely earthy quality throughout. The palette is earthy, with the peppery spicy notes coming to the forefront. The sweeter fruit notes from the nose are still present, but now act as a sort of seasoning to the pleasantly bittersweet palette. The finish is lengthy but subtle, leaving a bittersweet oil that becomes slight medicinal, but in a very pleasant way, with a very slight earthy dark chocolate presenting itself after some time This is my first foray into additive free, high quality tequila and I am not disappointed. Reviewed April 20, 2024On the nose, floral notes frame waxy green grapes and oak, with subtle hints of chocolate and malt coming in towards the end. Baking spices present throughout. The palette is bright, with floral green grapes being the primary note, with subtle oak The finish has a chocolatey essence to it, but is again dominated my the fruit present throughout the rest of the experience. -

Reviewed February 29, 2024The nose presents at first as oak, not in the sense of the usual vanilla, caramel notes, but as freshly stained wood. This is followed by bright, green fruit, with a herbacious hint of fennel. The palette is bright and lively, with oaky green fruit bursting forth from a subtle smoke and herbaceousness. The finish is drying and lengthy, coating the back of the tongue with a peppery, herbal cedar. I was lucky to be given this bottle, and it doesn't disappoint. I am not a big whisk(e)y drinker, and as someone who enjoys unique spirits, I am a massive fan. -
The nose presents first as umami, but very quickly develops into a rich, earthy sweetness. Notes of strawberry candy, unsalted butter, earthy sweet potato, and a subtle herbaceousness. The palette is rich and sweet with the sweet butter and earth presenting quite strongly. That candy strawberry, the kind you might expect from the desk at a bank, are still present. The finish, having good length, is slightly minty and bitter, with the earth becoming supported by pleasant cooking herbs and a slight vegetalness. The nose is light, predominantly barley, with a hint of dried grass and a very slight jasmine if one takes a deep enough breath. It is strange, but not unpleasant, incredibly reminiscent of wet clay. The palette is similar. The vegetal notes take the forefront, with barely in the background, echoed by a subtle melon/apple sweetness. The finish is astringent, with a green apple and melon note. Overall, it is light, and the wet clay note is quite off-putting to me, in all honesty. Not unpleasant, but I am likely to relegate it to mixing in chuhais21.0 USD per BottleWine Outlet

This whisky is distilled from Indica Rice, like Okinawan awamori. Those familiar with rice spirits like awamori and shochu will find some familiar character here. The nose opens with a familiar rice funk, with a powerful caramel undertoned by a subtle savory herbaciousness, perhaps reminiscent of basil. It smells exactly as I would expect an aged rice spirit to smell. The pallette is darker than the nose would imply. There is a green fruitiness that is being surrounded by baking spice, pepper (both the seasoning and the vegetable) and a pleasing oak. The finish is dry and lengthy, with the spice and vegetal notes lingering on your tongue, whilst vanilla sits just at the back of the mouth alongside echoes of fresh green apple This is a delicious, unique whisky that may find common ground between sake drinkers, shochu drinkers, and whisky drinkers. The nose is oak forward with reasonable complexity, caramel, dried fig, and baking spice, with hints of chocolate. The palette is disappointing and somewhat light, with a bright dried fruit, and a short, spicy finish that does have a lingering chocolatey oak on the back of the tongue. If you can get it inexpensively, works well for mixing, but at this price point you can do much, much better. Luckily, mine was free!

the nose is fruit forward, with a heavy peach and green apple component, complimented by the usual molasses, caramel, vanilla, and oak, with slight hints of dark chocolate. These notes continue into the palette, which itself is tannic and bright, with slight banana peel and a much heavier chocolate. The finish has a pleasing spice and funk that reminds me of cardamom though i can't quite place it, though it is predominantly a funky caramel and chocolate.

These continue into the palette, with the oaky, caramel flavours pushing to the forefront alongside pleasing, long tannins and bright fruit. The nose opens immediately with a strong umami and barley, with a subtle citrus peel and pear. These aromas, after some air, combine in such a way that reminds me of ripe banana, sometimes edging into an artificial banana candy. These continue into the palette, with the barley sweetness coming straight to the forefront, underlined by a slight savouriness and a hint of citrus peel. The finish brings a subtle note of green olives, almost reminiscent of a focaccia with olives. Very good for the low price point, yet certainly on the more savoury side of the shochus that I've tried.
