Gentle peat smoke and sea salt immediately noticeable on nosing , joined by notes of currents or raisins followed by lavender and nuts when a few drops of water were added. The flavors were sweet berries or plums, smoked salmon and salted butter. The peat smoke is present but not intrusive. Drinks older than it is.

A tasty dram for sure but left me wondering...where was the peat I loved so much in their 21yr Authenticus bottling? I am also comparing it with the Bruchiladich 16yr Cuvee B which was their Paulliac finished offering that gave some wonderful memories of apricots, honey, pineapple, vanilla and spice. Still, I am very happy to own a bottle.

I enjoyed the spicey notes up front followed by the heather and honey. A very smooth and easy going whiskey... almost too easy going for a week night at least!

Not for the feint of heart...iodine, strong whiff of sea spray and drying salts. Some citrus on palate along with ash and saltiness. Opens with time to show peat smoke and smoked salmon and capers on both nose and palate.

Not for the shy. Heat from the alcohol noticeable along with the classic Ardbeg smoke and peat. A few drops of water bring more of the brininess and seaweed character to bear along with additional notes of smoke and some vanilla.

Typically peaty with sea brine and citrus. Opens up with the addition of a drop or two of water to give a long and satisfying finish.
