Arran 10 Year
Single Malt — Islands, ScotlandTasted March 31, 2021Citrus and vanilla are found initially on the nose, with a malty cereal sweetness in the background. The palate is bright and creamy. Tangerines and honeycomb sweetness come in early on as a slightly bitter, yet pleasant herbal, floral flavor arrives to finish the experience. The herbal notes and sweetness linger for a while throughout the finish. It's just a fantastic whisky. The abv on this one is spot on for this 46% non chill filtered, natural-color whisky. There arent many whiskys at this 10 year age that will rival the flavor experience of this dram.
Paul John Classic Select Cask Single Malt
Single Malt — Goa, IndiaTasted March 11, 2021At first impression on the nose I get very bourbonish notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla spices. There is also a very nutty note of maybe walnuts there that is prominent. As I nose it deeper, the tropical fruits begin to appear with papaya, pineapple, apple, and mango coming through. The flavor opens with sweet honey malty cereal notes. The fruitiness appears mid palate and continues through the finish as baking spices appear at the end to finish the experience. The high proof does give the whisky an astringency, but a little water and time in the glass smoothes out the experience, and allows more fruit flavors to come out as the whisky opens up in the glass.
Nikka Whisky From the Barrel
Blended — JapanTasted February 15, 2021Notes of cedar wood and light smoke early on the nose with baking spices and an underlying vanilla, malty sweetness. The initial nosing notes are reminiscent of walking into an old wooden cabin. The cedar notes arrive first on the palate. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and a slight hint of clove come in mid palate with a pleasant bitterness of the cedar lingering with vanilla sweetness and spice through to the finish. A light wiff smoke mingles with the wood and spice on the fairly lengthy finish.75.0 USD per Bottle

Single Malt — Speyside, ScotlandTasted February 13, 2021The higher 48% abv carries the flavors well. It's such a silky smooth, subtle but elegant whisky. It has notes of vanilla, slight baking spices, berries and cream with almonds. It's like a fruit parfait in a glass. The viscosity is so silky, smooth on the tongue as the flavors build mid palate and transition to nice moderately long finish.
Blue Hanger 7th Release
Blended Malt — ScotlandTasted February 10, 2021Great complexity on this dram. Mild peat immediately on the nose resembling struck matches with an underlying sweetness of honey, citrus, and a light salty, briny note. It opens with a honey, malty, cereal sweetness on the tongue. The salt and smokiness shows up at the end but leaves fairly quickly. The flavors dont seem to linger long as it has a fairly short to moderate finish.
Bunnahabhain 12 Year
Peated Single Malt — Islay, ScotlandTasted February 10, 2021Chocolate covered raisins with a slightly salty ocean mist and a hint of smoke added in. It has a fairly oily, decent consistency. This one has great complexity and a huge range of flavors from fruits to bold costal notes. Almonds and toffee sweetness linger a bit on the moderate finish, with spicy wood, slightly bitter wood tannins hanging in a little longer. This one is a bargain at its price point.
