Stopped by the distillery last week after leaving Castle & Key. Nice little set up. Just met with one person in the shop. They were a little standoffish at first as i knew nothing about this distillery and their bourbons. Got a little info such as this was their best seller so Inwent with it. It’s not a bad bourbon but nothing really special either. For me it is a little spicy with no outstanding flavors coming thru. I will set this bottle aside and give it another taste test in a week or so. If I find anything different I will amend this review.

I had been told this was an aweful pour. I beg to differ! While it is not the most refined or smooth whiskey is holds its own. A nice slight cherry note comes forward with just a touch of heat. Then some hints of oak and other combinations come forward and it finishes off nicely.Buffalo Trace Distillery

Maker's Mark Private Selection High Country ABC Alpine Amber #01
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 17, 2024This is as good a Maker’s as I have had! In the past some has been very hot and not much to my likybut this is much mellower and for 109 proof im very pleased. Nice hints of maple, honey, oak and other flavors come to bare throughout the taste.80.0 USD per BottleABC Store -
I have to admit the very cool bottle attracted me to this one. The long horn on the front and cap shaped like the wheel of a six shooter… with the ends of the bullet casings showing on the top! Great marketing! As for the bourbon… not disappointed one bit. A bit heavier than a lot inhave tried recently but i like it. Nice wood tones and a hint of florals makes innice smooth bourbon. One to keep around!

Yellowstone Kentucky Straight Bourbon Finished in Rum Casks
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 13, 2024A nice and complex bourbon and might just be my favorite Yellowstone! A slight build on the front gives way to a melody of flavors. -
George Dickel 15 Year Tennessee Single Barrel
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed April 25, 2024Well my old man used to drink George Dickel many moons ago… before single barrel was even a thing. This is the first i have tried as he had switched to Wild Turkey before i had an interest. This was surprisingly mellow and smooth! I also added funky in the tasting profile as there is something I haven’t quite put my finger on as far as flavor hints. But to be fair the brie, meat abd crackers might have been an influence. I usually do my tasting first. But nonetheless… i don’t think this is my father’s George Dickel experience…
