Horse Soldier Signature Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Ohio, USA
Reviewed March 9, 2022 (edited May 27, 2022)Bought for an incredible price at CityWide Liquors on Grape Road (normally around $65) Color: nice medium amber Nose: 9.7/10! Different! Brilliant, bright, airy butterscotch with, at the same time, bold undertones of toffee and mint Taste: soft butterscotches caramels, vanillas, lightly roasted nuts, and then a light WAVE of buttery barley with lingering barley/gingery zing that fades to pepper. Mash: 70% corn (yellow dent 2) 20% wheat (soft red winter) 10% barley (Two-row, combination distillers malt and base two-row). Undisclosed age. I love it all the way up until the lingering barley taste (I hate that barley flavor)54.99 USD per Bottle -
Jim Beam Black Label Extra-Aged
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed March 6, 2022 (edited April 10, 2022)Blind taste test. Color is a lighter-medium amber Nose is a lot like Blade and Bow but a touch softer. Green apple Taste is buttery vanilla/butterscotch with sweet dried fruit flavor and a soft rye peppercorn finish. Upon reveal, the extra oak, caramel, and vanillas from extra aging really do make a nice difference! The Jim Beam signature lasting burn in the bottom of the throat persists 3.25 -
Could not find at any stores near me, but found a bottle at Total Wine in Grand Rapids while visiting Kyle Dubiak for Brewfest 2022! Color is a medium amber. Nose lights up the nostrils with a strong rye spice with some nice toffee undertones. Taste is light, airy, buttery, and a beautiful splash of butterscotch and rye spice with a long-lasting spice, vanilla, and oak finish. Great value buy!!29.99 USD per Bottle

Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 27, 2022 (edited May 17, 2022)I have enjoyed this more and more as I have progressed through the bottle. Found it best served over a single whiskey stone in a whiskey highball glass. The caramel flavor is strong with sweet chocolate, cherry, and some smoke -
Bought at Belmont Bev on S Main in Mishawaka. Pours with a lot of beaded bubbles = high proof! Color is a nice medium-dark amber. Nose has a lot of ethanol heat, a lot of dark fruit, caramel and rye spice. Flavor is sweet vanilla, caramel, spice, dark fruits/cherry, butterscotch, candy with toasted bread and baking spice notes at the very end. Smoke and some maple flavors are also present.49.99 USD per Bottle

Blind taste test. Color - light-medium amber Nose - smells like a more subtle Blade and Bow. Ethanol dominates, but dark fruits also present. Subtle rye. Taste - caramel, apple, bready, and a finish of baking/ rye spice Upon reveal, I nailed it haha. Honey/butterscotch instead of carmel, but yup - as advertised. Not the biggest fan

Blind taste test. Color - very light yellow Nose- rye spice overpowers, mint, young youthful green scents Taste - surprisingly not the amount of rye spice predicted by the smell. Kind of watery with caramel, vanilla and popcorn. A bit of spice at the end, but there’s a big “hole” in flavor between the beginning sweetness and the end spice.
