Tastes

Blind taste test - bought 50 mL bottles at Total Wine in Grand Rapids with Kyle. Color is a pretty medium amber. Smell is sharp, dark fruits/berries and toast - similar to Blade and Bow but sharper ethanol aroma. Taste is certainly unique - herbal, floral, spiced, and a little toffee. Not my favorite, but would happily sip again. Upon reveal, the dark fruits and caramel dominate. Nice and would not get too tired of drinking

Blind taste test - bought 50 mL bottles at Total Wine in Grand Rapids with Kyle. Color is nice and amber. Nose is robust, but a little flat with aromas of dark wood, pine, and leather. Texture is a little grainy with a pop of sweet/candy corn flavor with vanilla. Buttery, a little floral, and very flavorful. Upon reveal, cherry, pecans, pie, and jam really do come through. Very sweet - great value!! Much prefer to other entry-level bourbons!

Okay for a rye, but a little sweet. 65% rye mash bill, but not much coming from outside flavors

A little to be desired… not much malt or grain taste. A little light

Blind taste test. Nose is soft and sweet. Upon reveal, subtle barley taste with a little sherry finish.

Blind taste test - bought 50 mL bottles at Total Wine in Grand Rapids with Kyle. Darker amber color, smell is a blast of rye spice. Hard to discern other aromas besides the rye, but butter comes through. Taste is fantastic and very deceiving - buttery and butterscotch flavor with a hint of nutty caramel with not much of the rye/peppery bite except at the finish. Upon reveal, a hint of smoky flavor is noticeable. 70% rye 18% corn 12% barley

Blind taste test. Light-medium amber color. Corn aromas smell. Well balanced profile, but very subtle flavor. Nice amount of heat with caramel, oak, and vanilla. A little bit of buttery popcorn and herbs, but flavors are very gentle.

Upon reveal was very pleasantly surprised! Sweet fruits, dark chocolate and vanilla come through. Fantastic low-cost surrogate for Blade and Bow. Just a small gap in flavor (tastes goooood, gap, and then nice finish)

Blind taste: Lightly colored. Nose is buttered toast. Taste is delightful - smooth, well-rounded, buttery, corn, herbal. I guessed correctly and it really does taste like a buttered popcorn

Blind taste - bought 50 mL at Total Wine in Grand Rapids with Kyle.: Lightly colored. Almost no nose/aroma. Taste takes a second to hit, then is full of corn with peppery spices. Floral and salty caramel. Upon reveal, the biscuit and peanutty notes are there along with a hint of wheated cinnamon and oaky cookie. But flavors are subtle.
