George T. Stagg Bourbon (Fall 2018)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 7, 2018 (edited January 4, 2019)I feel unqualified to review this bourbon since my palate is still developing, but here we go... Nose is subtle and warm, very inviting and oak dominant. Caramel sweetness lingers. Palate starts with intense caramel which fades to dry tobacco and bitter spice. Marshmallow and oak follow up with an electric mouth feel which is a bit odd. Rye and bubble gum sweetness are on the finish. This is a wild ride of a bourbon, and worth over paying a tiny bit to taste once a year.20.0 USD per Pour -
Served on rocks. Starts with a a very strong standard bourbon flavor, then sharply turns into a mellow yet intense bubble gum and wheat. Finish lingers for an eternity with more smooth bubble gum and warm maple syrup with a hint of nuttiness and a smidge of spice. Overall, this is an intense and excellent bourbon, one I'll always have stock of.
