Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 7, 2018 (edited June 18, 2018)Honey colored, light bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Nose: full of bright fruity sweetness, honey and citrus. After some time in the glass, the prominent notes are sweet caramel apples, spices, and vanilla cream. Palate: bright citrus and honey sweetness at first. Apples, caramel, cinnamon and spices take over the flavor. The finish is moderate and fruity, but leaves lingering sweetness - caramel apples coated with cinnamon. 4/5 - this is quite tasty and it does vary a bit from the first sip vs a after it’s been in the glass for a few minutes. It started lighter and Citrus forward, but with time it became more like caramel apples with cinnamon and vanilla sweetness. -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2017-04 Sip Awhile
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 6, 2018 (edited November 24, 2019)Amber colored, full bodied, velvety mouthfeel. Nose: cinnamon and cloves, brown sugar, caramel, gingerbread, and peppermint. Some vanilla rounds it out. Christmas in a cup! Palate: brown sugar and baking spices are bold at the front. The middle heats up and gets sweeter with more caramel and cinnamon popping up. The finish is big, chewy, and warming. Fairly dry leaving caramel candy, vanilla, oak, and refreshing hints of mint and menthol tingling the senses. I added a few drops of water and the nose seems more candied and a bit fruity—maybe cherries. Smoother, sweeter, and gentler - the addition of water makes the whiskey a bit simpler but also more approachable. The whiskey exhibits more vanilla and oak on the palate along with some toffee and dark fruit. Absolutely fantastic. 5/5 -
Darker honey colored, medium bodied, with a creamy mouthfeel. Nose: ripe apples, some caramel and vanilla sweetness. Mild oakiness and a hint of spice. Palate: apples and vanilla sweetness. Some spice and dry oak in the middle. Finish is quick and oaky with some mild apple sweetness and spice lingering behind. This is pretty tasty and crisp. Nice value for the price and definitely worth trying 🙂 3.7/5 or 4/5 on here.

Light amber colored, light bodied with an oily mouthfeel. Nose: big aroma with deep caramel and brown sugar sweetness. Hiding behind that is some bright green apple. Palate: Caramel sweetness and slightly tart apple. Oak and some spice replace the caramel and join the tart apple in the middle. The finish is disappointingly light and lackluster and somewhat drying. It leaves some tartness and oak behind. 2.3/5 - it’s alright, but overpriced for what it is. Not offensive, but there are better whiskies which are less expensive.

Honey colored, light bodied with a watery mouthfeel. Nose: charred oak, molasses, caramel apple. Smooth. Palate: oak, caramel sweetness. Some apples and spice in the middle. Finish is quick and tart with more oak and a touch of apple. 1.25/5 - I’d take this over Jim beam white or jack Daniels old No7, but otherwise I wouldn’t do anything but mix it with cola.

Reviewed March 26, 2018 (edited December 7, 2018)Amber colored, lighter bodied, with a oily mouthfeel. Nose: brown sugar and caramel sweetness followed by ripe apples and maple syrup, with vanilla cream smoothing it all out nicely. Palate: Caramel and brown sugar. The whiskey heats up in the middle with oakiness and some baking spices. The finish is warming with lots of oak, vanilla, and brown sugar present - leaving a lingering sweetness from ripe apples and caramel. I give this a 7.5/10 or 4/5 on here. -
Honey colored and medium bodied with a oily mouthfeel. Nose: a rich swirl of maple, brown sugar, and caramel. Ripe apple. A hint of cinnamon. Some softer vanilla and chocolate notes also accent the aroma. Surprisingly indulgent. Palate: maple brown sugar and caramel. Apple and some oakiness appear in the middle. Finish is gently warming, sweet, and oh so smooth, leaving behind mouthwatering notes of caramel apple and brown sugar. 4.5/5 - this is a delicious American whiskey and my only disappointment is that I didn’t buy a bottle sooner.

Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed March 16, 2018 (edited April 26, 2018)Light honey colored. Light bodied with a milky mouthfeel. Nose: toffee and vanilla spice. Honey, banana, and raisins. Not an overly complex aroma, but very smooth, sweet, and inviting. Palate: molasses, bananas, and some cinnamon spice at the front. Richer fruits, toffee, and soft oak join party in the middle. The finish is fairly dry, smooth, and very well rounded leaving behind notes of molasses and cinnamon. I think this would be a fantastic dram on a hot summer afternoon in the sunshine. -
Aberlour A'bunadh
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 15, 2018 (edited February 4, 2019)Aberlour A’Bundah Batch 53 59.7ABv Dark amber color. Full bodied with a rich velvety mouthfeel. Nose: milk chocolate and sea salt caramel. Ripe red apples and toasted pecans. Dates and molasses. An indulgent and dessert-like aroma. Palate: Sea salt caramel and rich milk chocolate lead the way almost melting in your mouth. The whisky’s cask strength shows in the middle as the flavor heats up toward a big conclusion. The sweet fruit character also increases. The finish is big, bold, warming, and fruity. A swirl of fruit, molasses, and chocolate finish out big. The finish leaves a delightful taste of toasted pecans, dates, and a little caramel. WOW. 4.6/5 or 5/5 here. Absolutely fantastic. The best Speyside I’ve sipped. -
Light amber color. Medium bodied with a velvety mouthfeel. Nose: loads of caramel sweetness with some vanilla. Green apple and pear accented by baking spices. Mild molasses sweetness is also hiding in the aroma which is complex than I expected. Palate: rich caramel sweetness and green apples are strong at first. Spices and some oak appear as the whiskey heats up through the middle to the finish. The finish is big, warming, and smooth. It’s rounded off by more candy sweet caramel-apples like the kind you get at a county fair. It leaves that sweet taste behind inviting another sip. I’m pleasantly surprised by this whiskey. This and 1792’s Sweet Wheat are my favorites from their line up that I’ve tried. 3.9/5 stars or 4/5 on here.
