Tastes

Interesting. The nose is complex and fruity. Getting a good bit of raisins and banana bread. The palate is cream, honey and not surprisingly, Shiraz. Finish is smooth. Pretty good.

Great rye! The nose is cola and apple pie with a lot of alcohol. The mouth feel is rather thin but not unpleasant. Lots of sweet caramel and butterscotch notes. The finish has a good amount of burn.

That’s just really pleasant. Granted, nothing crazy unique going on but smooth as foie gras. Surprisingly found this bottle in my office cabinet as I was getting kicked out of it. Asked everyone around but no one had a claim. Lucky me because I’d never tried it. Nose: Floral, rich, leather, caramel. Kind of reminds of a long-aged chatenuef du pape. Up front: toffee, caramel, citrus all mixed together very delicately Mouth feel: silky, oily, viscous. Delightful Finish: slight burn right off that transitions into buttery satisfaction. Some raisins as well. Verdict: nothing life-changing but about as good of an unexpected office cabinet discovery as one could hope for. This bourbon is right down the middle for me.

Basically the “Sunny D” of whiskey. Sure, it’s easy to drink but you also know that it’s not really the the thing your mind was tricked into thinking you’d be having when you raised it to your mouth. Thin and artificial is all I’ve got. Overall, it tastes like nothing and the burn ain’t bad so go ahead and throw it down with some ginger ale. What do you expect from a shooter out of a grown up piñata?
