New Riff Single Barrel Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 4, 2021 (edited October 15, 2021)Have had this bottle open for a little while before reviewing and have noticed some differences and some mellowing out of some of the notes. On the nose, I get some notes of blueberry at first, then very faint vanilla and lastly some creamed corn. Surprisingly no alcohol notes for this 114 proof bottle. The palate is much hotter than the nose lets on, you get a dash of spice right away of both oak and black pepper with some vanilla making another appearance. The finish is medium long with the spice lingering for awhile. Overall it is a very serviceable bottle, not remarkable, but would definitely enjoy going back to this from time to time. -
Old Bardstown White Label Bourbon 90 Proof
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 3, 2021 (edited February 19, 2022)The nose starts with slight hints of vanilla and caramel along with ethanol. The palate continues with the vanilla and adds some grapes and creme brulee. The finish is quick and unremarkable. Overall not bad, but close to average is the best this bottle can hope to achieve. -
Trying this budget scotch for the first time. I immediately get sweet fruit, possibly apples and pears, on the nose. Upon further opening up some hints of white chocolate make an appearance. The fruitiness continues on the palate with some hints of oak spice and a little tobacco. The finish is quick and easy. Overall a serviceable pour, especially for the price, but nothing that stands out.

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed July 18, 2021 (edited July 24, 2021)Now this is how you are supposed to experience Jack Daniel's! Still has the classic banana note on the nose, but not as pronounced as with classic No. 7, and also also surrounded by rich vanilla with a hint of baking spice. The palate is creamy that coats the mouth but also brings spice and dark fruits, with the banana note making a minor appearance in the mid-palate. The finish is quicker than I would like as I want to savor it longer, but is still very pleasant and the whole thing keeps me wanting to go back for more. -
A perfectly good workhorse of a bourbon. Lots of honey, caramel, and butterscotch on the nose. The palate brings out some vanilla to compliment the caramel and butterscotch along with some oak spice. The finish is quick with some lingering spice and sweetness, not very memorable but not at all disappointing either.

Bardstown Bourbon Co. Fusion Series #5
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 10, 2021 (edited August 24, 2021)A wonderful nose on this one, filled with lots of vanilla with hints of honey and sweet corn. The vanilla and honey carry through quite noticeably on the palate with a nice dose of spice and then some mild heat at the back of the palate. The finish is surprisingly quick, but this does coat your mouth with an oily mouthfeel that is very enjoyable even after the finish has faded.59.99 USD per BottleIndian Trail ABC Board -
Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Whiskey (Sourced Whiskey)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed July 9, 2021 (edited September 3, 2021)Tried this one again since I like the 1856 so much, but again not super impressed with this expression. On the nose you get faint hints of honey and citrus, maybe lemons. This carries forward to the palate with a bit of a corn taste at the back. The finish is quick and indistinct. Again, nothing to dislike, but nothing impressive either. -
This is one of those pours that never ever disappoints. Sweet vanilla and cream on the nose moves into a soft and silky palate, with some bitter dark chocolate notes making an appearance. The finish is quick, but not at all in a bad way. Definitely always a good "go to" for anytime and any occasion.

Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed July 2, 2021 (edited September 23, 2021)Ok, this is my second time trying this and still don't enjoy it. The initial nose was straight ethanoal with a hint of baking spice, some time to open up reveals some vanilla and butterscotch notes that are quote pleasant though. The ethanol comes right back to the forefront on the palate, with vanilla, butterscotch, and spice notes taking a back seat. The finish is quick and forgettable. Again, not impressed by this pour.16.0 USD per PourBourbon N' Bubbles
