Bardstown Bourbon Co. Origin Series Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 25, 2023 (edited May 30, 2023)Nose: starts off with beautiful notes of citrus like a mix of orange and lemon peels, with just a slight hint of floral and herbal notes below the surface. Palate: citrus continues on the front of the palate, followed by some oily licorice, honey, and pepper notes. Finish: lovely medium to long finish that does not overpower. -
Lone Elm Straight Wheat Whiskey Honey Barrel
Wheat Whiskey — Texas, USA
Reviewed March 19, 2023 (edited March 20, 2023)Nose: first notes are of a loaf of wheat bread, with some cereal grains, just a hint of honey, and some floral notes lingering under the surface. Palate: more grainy on the palate, with some spice on the back end. Not much complexity other than that. Finish: the finish is mostly pleasurable with the spice lingering for a medium to long amount of time. Overall: obviously a younger whiskey with lots of grain notes and minimal complexity. It does have a surprising amount of spice. I was worried that the honey barrel finish would make this overly sweet, but you detect al.ost zero influence from the honey. -
