Reviewed March 4, 2023I was not impressed by this at all. Very thin mouthfeel with the primary flavors coming out as bitter and licorice. -
Benchmark Single Barrel Bourbon (95 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed December 23, 2022 (edited March 19, 2023)Nose: fresh apples, vanilla, and caramel Palate: black pepper and coriander at the front, a slight hint of apples in the middle, and then some herbal notes at the back Finish: much longer than expected with the pepper spice lingering as a nice surprise -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2020-02 "Boston Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 22, 2022 (edited June 25, 2023)Nose: cloves, thyme, white pepper, and spearmint. Smells like it could have a high rye content like OGD. Palate: more pepper spice and baking spices at the front, some of the floral rye like notes appear in the middle and then some leather towards the back. Finish: surprisingly tame for the proof, goes down easy but does embrace you in a nice Kentucky hug, but without any real alcohol burn. -
Pinhook Bohemian Bourbon High Proof
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 6, 2022 (edited December 7, 2022)Nose: I getting some citrus notes, honey, vanilla, and baking spices - quite the delicious start Palate: the palate starts with some vanilla wafers at the front and then turns to pepper spice towards the middle and back - thin mouthfeel and somewhat a step back from the nose but in no way displeasing Finish: the finish has a nice Kentucky hug to it and is medium to long in length with the pepper spice lingering throughout - pleasantly surprised at the recovery from the palate Overall: a bit inconsistent but overall very enjoyable -
Nose: a big whiff of spearmint, black pepper, honey and hints of vanilla - nice classic rye beginning Palate: a nice tart grannies Smith apple hits right away, immediately followed by pepper spice and spearmint - kind of thin mouthfeel, but still coats the mouth nicely Finish: you gets hints of orange peel and vanilla with some more of that spice - quick but pleasant Overall: I feel like this pretty classic and will not disappoint rye fans out there. That said, I think this has a fairly low rye percentage compared to others out there (somewhere in the 51-55% range)
