I've always liked Bulleit Rye, even though some don't like the MGP origin, I find it an enjoyable rye thats easy on the wallet. That being said, when I was basically across the river from where this was born and saw the 12 year label, it was a no brainer for me. A nice smooth neat taste. Leather, carmel, peppery notes. Very nice, did not disappoint I believe it was $50-ish a 5th...had a different label than the others. Definitely recommend50.0 USD per BottleParty Town

Vanilla, brullee sugar, oak, carmel... the basis of a bourbon. Tried OGD based on a song, then spotted the Bonded. And like other Bondeds this doesn't disappoint. This may not be a star of your stock but definitely not the worst. For price a nice every day sipper. Certainly don't pass giving this a tatse.26.0 USD per Bottle

Benchmark Bonded Bourbon (100 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 28, 2023 (edited March 14, 2024)Read my other reviews and you'll see that I like Benchmark, not that its an outstanding/gotta have, stand in line for bourbon but because it is a good bourbon given the price point. As one review I steal the quote from...."hits above its weight class" This one is no exception, I have had plenty of BIBs, have yet to have one disappoint. In fact as for the "well/bottom shelf" bourbons put this in your arsenal, because you can mix it or go neat, with a splash or ice and have the debate as to why this is a"not bad/good" bourbon given the sub $30 price Nice carmel vanilla notes, easy sipping a good all-around bourbon25.0 USD per Bottle -
The nose seemed high in alcohol, then got some apple/pear maybe. Drinking neat....the taste has some spicy kick along with the vanilla, carmel-ish flavors. The finish was a lasting peppery spice. Kinda reminds me of a nice rye but not quite a rye. This one is different, in a good way Not bad for an impulse buy, happen to be a "new" item in my store, definitely would keep this in rotation .35.0 USD per Shot

Picked up basically because it said 10 year, did some background found who made it etc. Then found a disappointing review said it wasn't worth the money, had a funky taste yada yada. Crack it, pleasantly relieved, nice nose although strong with the alcohol, taste was on point...vanilla/carmel but then the spice hit...whoa but then the long finish. Like a summer evening Definitely will grab again when I find it!65.0 USD per Bottle

Being from just a couple of miles from where Boone County is distilled I've followed their growth.I've had most of Boone County offerings. The 1833 and Small Batch both of which I enjoyed...the 1833 being my favorite. I know some peeps may have a problem with MGP products (1833) but if I enjoy a bourbon then I enjoy a bourbon. This Pot Still has me on fence. Right after the pour, the nose is very alcohol forward. Let it sit for a while and the salted carmel, vanilla notes come about. The taste...well that's another perplexing thing, while the carmel toffee vanilla flavors are present there is a very alcohol forward hit. For 5 year old bourbon I'd expect this not to be so....it sips kinda of young. I do like this but I don't know if I'll make a return visit...

Ezra Brooks 99 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 13, 2021 (edited September 30, 2021)Been drinking Ezra 90, saw this advertized thought maybe Ezra had a more mature better depth bourbon on the market. Well after seeing the price, knew it was a hi-test version of the 90. Still, at $25 had to partake. Like the former its a good, not great bourbon. It has all the right notes but won't wow you , but won't disappoint. Spicy, carmel, vanilla. Again, not knocking this but like the 90, a good bourbon to have on hand for a group, to use as a mixer, or to have neat ...a good well bourbon that isn't named Jim😉25.0 USD per Bottle -
Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 18, 2021 (edited September 17, 2021)Light on the nose, carmel and vanilla are there but faint. The taste is nice, full, sweet, kinda fruity. Different, feels light but full of flavor. Overlooked this one, not any more. A nice taste. -
Well, I've just begun my journey into Rye. After having gone through 4 or 5 other Ryes, I can honestly say, after about my fourth neat from this bottle....not too impressed. I really like Boone County's bourbon offerings but this Rye falls short. The nose is fairly spot on but something about the taste especially on the back end is off. It's not off putting but it's not right compared to other Ryes. I would grab the Knob Creek or Bulleit or Woodford before this one.
