Tastes

Not a speyside fan myself, this whisky surprised me. It is a typical speyside, sweet, rich, honeyed, but it blends together so well.

I was pleased and disapointed all at the same time. As the slogan says "This is your grandfather's whisky" I was expecting something so much more robust and oily. Something that could have built me a cabin after fishing. A very good whisky but I do believe this is Glennfiddich 12 masquerading around in a wolf costume.

Leaning towards the way to expensive side, this scotch has got some game to back it up. Its a honey filled junction of flavor with smoke riding shotgun.

The Balvenie is an excellent whisky to begin with. This one is a rougher cousin with a soft smooth side. I would describe this whisky as The Man With No Name. Bold and rough, but smooth as can be.

A NAS with character. Bold fruity flavors with a touch of spice!

What a beautiful whisky! Very complex and robust. I would describe Lagavulin as being the head of the table in Islay. Very petty like Ardbeg, a touch smoky like Laphroaig, but in a league of its own in smoothness.

I truly loved this whisky but I couldn't quite distinguish it from its 16 year old cousin. Slightly less okay but ultimately no better or worse than the 16

Just as any whisky I've tasted from Glenmorangie this is wonderful. A bit sweet and a touch more oily than that of the 10 year original.

Very close to its cousin the 16 year but with a bit more of an attitude. A much longer finish and a little more character on the nose.
